The New York Jets wrapped up mandatory minicamp last week, with head coach Aaron Glenn comfortable enough to cancel the final practice due to how good he felt about his team.
It was clearly a productive period for the Jets, and several players had the opportunity to set themselves apart from the pack and stand out to the coaching staff.
On the other hand, there were surely some players who stuck out in the worst way and may have lost more than they gained throughout minicamp.
3 Winner & 3 losers coming out of Jets Minicamp
Winner: CB Nahshon Wright
Nahshon Wright, a Pro Bowler in 2025 with the Chicago Bears, signed a one-year prove-it deal with the Jets in free agency. Because of his salary, it was thought he would be a reserve player at most, but reports out of camp indicate he's been running with the starting defense. Wright may have established himself as the starting cornerback opposite Brandon Stephens.
Winner: RB Braelon Allen
The forgotten running back on the Jets depth chart seems to be back in a big way in 2026. At the start of summer practices, Braelon Allen told reporters he was in the best shape of his career after missing almost the entirety of the 2025 season. Aaron Glenn has said he hopes to use the 22-year-old in the passing game.
Winner: WR Adonai Mitchell
There's been no bigger buzz around any player coming out of Jets minicamp than third-year wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. Throughout his first full offseason in New York, Mitchell seems to be building quite a chemistry with his new quarterback. If you've been keeping up with Glenn, Geno Smith, and Frank Reich, they've had nothing but positive things to say about the former Texas standout.
Loser: CB Azareye'h Thomas
In the same vein as Wright, Azareye'h Thomas came into the summer as the presumptive favorite for the Jets' starting cornerback job opposite Stephens. Instead, the 2025 third-round draft pick has been overtaken on the depth chart by Wright and appears to have an uphill climb ahead of him if he wants to carve out a role.
Loser: TE Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq being listed as a loser here isn't necessarily his fault. The first-round tight end underwent surgery for a minor hernia in early June and missed all of OTAs and minicamp. Sadiq needs all the reps he can get making the transition from college to the pros, and he missed a lot over the last month. Reports indicate he'll be ready to go for training camp.
Loser: DE David Bailey
When you're the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, there's a certain level of expectations that come with it. Since the Jets drafted David Bailey, there haven't been any reports of the pass rusher dominating in practice, which, in fairness, is tough to do as an edge with no pads on. However, the conversation around Bailey all offseason has been about his weakness as a run defender, and that's not exactly what you want from a player who was taken so high.
