NY Jets head coach Robert Saleh spoke to reporters on Monday and indicated that both Breece Hall and Davin Cook will play in the team's season opener against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.
Hall did not participate in Monday's practice, but Saleh said that this was merely a maintenance day. Neither Hall nor Cook will be on a snap count in Week 1.
Hall has returned quicker than expected from a torn ACL that limited him to just seven games as a rookie. Meanwhile, Cook continues to work his way back from offseason shoulder surgery.
The Jets will have all hands on deck when they take on the Bills in front of a primetime audience next week. Both of their star running backs will play.

D.J. Reed has high hopes for the Jets' defense
It's easy to be optimistic about the Jets' defense entering the 2023 season, but star cornerback D.J. Reed took it one step further when speaking to the media on Monday.
Reed believes that, if everything goes right, the Jets could have one of the best defenses in NFL history, likening the unit to the '85 Chicago Bears and the 2013 Seattle Seahawks.
Reed was very complimentary not just of his teammates but of his coaching staff. He insisted that the Jets have the best defensive coordinator in the NFL in Jeff Ulbrich.
The Jets undoubtedly have one of the best defenses in the NFL entering this season. Only time will tell if Reed's prediction about this unit comes true. It's a bold claim, but not one that's unreasonable.
Jets announce team captains
The Jets announced their three permanent captains for the 2023 season on Monday, and there were no surprises with the group that was chosen. Aaron Rodgers, C.J. Mosley, and Justin Hardee will serve as the captains of the offense, defense, and special teams, respectively.
The Jets' coaching staff will also elect a game captain each week, giving the team four captains for every game. That's a far cry from the absurd 10 team captains the New York Giants have elected.
Rodgers will don the "C" on his jersey for his first season with the Jets. He was previously elected as a team captain 12 times in Green Bay.
This will mark C.J. Mosley's fourth year as a team captain with the Jets. The only year he wasn't a captain was the 2020 season, which he opted out of. As for Hardee, this is his third captaincy in as many years with the organization.
