The NY Jets fan base rejoiced with excitement upon the news that their favorite team had signed four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook to a one-year contract on Monday.

It was an announcement that was seemingly months in the making and one that felt inevitable following his visit with the organization last month. Still, that hasn't exactly quelled the level of excitement.

The Jets legitimately might have the best running back duo in the NFL now with Cook and Breece Hall. For a franchise that has long been starved for offensive playmakers, the addition of Cook just solidifies the notion that this Jets team is vastly different than anything we've seen in recent memory.

It's not just the fans who are excited, however. A number of Jets players took to Twitter in the months following the announcement to express their enthusiasm for their newest teammate.

Everyone from D.J. Reed to Quinnen Williams seems fired up about the addition of Cook. Jets defensive end Jermaine Johnson seems extra excited, given that another Florida State product just joined the team.

Breece Hall didn't tweet about the Cook signing, but he did like a number of tweets about it. That seems to suggest that he's on the board with the decision. It's unclear if the same could be said for Michael Carter and Zonovan Knight, who have not responded to the signing on social media.

Either way, there is a new sense of optimism surrounding Florham Park. The addition of Aaron Rodgers has breathed new life into the organization, and the Cook signing only serves to further that optimism.

The Jets have constructed a roster that's built to compete for a Super Bowl title this season. Cook may not move the needle much, but he does upgrade the Jets' running back room and provide insurance behind Hall.

It's not every day that a team signs a four-time Pro Bowler in the middle of August. That alone should be enough to get Jets fans and players alike excited for what's to come this season.
