NY Jets seem like one of the favorites to trade for DK Metcalf
By Justin Fried
The NY Jets have been connected to rumors regarding a potential trade for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf in recent weeks, and it appears those rumors have forced the oddsmakers' hands.
The Jets appear to be one of the favorites to land Metcalf this offseason. At least that seems to be the case with recent speculation from around the league. Of course, it's still very possible he remains in Seattle as well.
Vegas still isn't sold on Metcalf actually getting traded, but if he is, the Jets figure to be one of the top teams calling. The latest betting odds are simply confirmation of that notion.
The Jets' actions this offseason lend credence to the argument. General manager Joe Douglas is willing to make a bold trade, and he's ready to strike if the opportunity arises.
This time, if Metcalf does become available, Douglas is hoping to seal the deal.
The NY Jets are a very possible destination for DK Metcalf if he's traded
The Jets were likely to be one of the most aggressive teams in pursuit of Calvin Ridley prior to his suspension, they did their homework on Amari Cooper, and were infamously finalists for Tyreek Hill before he was traded.
They haven't been shy about exploring the wide receiver market this offseason, and if the opportunity to trade for a 24-year-old Pro Bowl wide receiver who's never had fewer than 900 yards in a season arises, you'd best believe the Jets will be all-in.
Of course, to this point, there's been nothing to indicate that Seattle will actually trade Metcalf. That hasn't stopped teams from inquiring, however. And despite what the Seahawks state publicly, there's reportedly a belief around the NFL that Metcalf could be had "for the right price."
Other teams given odds to trade for Metcalf include the Kansas City Chiefs (+750), Chicago Bears (+900), and the Indianapolis Colts (+950). The Jets would have their fair share of competition for sure.
They do have the advantage of having more draft capital to offer than any other team in this year's draft, and it's hard to imagine many (if any) other teams being more aggressive than them.
The Jets trading for DK Metcalf remains more of a pipe dream than an actual reality. But if the NFL has proven anything this year, it's that nothing is predictable.
There's some smoke around Metcalf to the Jets, and that's all that matters right now.
