The NY Jets are set to enter a new era in 2025. The arrival of Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey has breathed a renewed sense of optimism into an organization that has been beaten down over the last few years.
The Aaron Rodgers experiment crashed and burned in spectacular fashion, and instead of attempting to run it back one more year, the Jets simply decided to cut bait this offseason and start fresh with a new quarterback to join their new regime.
Who will that quarterback be? That likely depends on the outcome of free agency this year.
The Jets are eyeing the veteran quarterback market in free agency and are expected to pursue a number of different names. There's a good chance that whoever they sign will be the team's Week 1 starter come September.
The Jets will also explore options at tight end, wide receiver, right tackle, defensive line, and safety, among other positions. While there's still plenty of work to be done, they aren’t expected to spend big on top-tier free agents.
The team got a head start on free agency Sunday evening, re-signing linebacker Jamien Sherwood to a three-year, $45 million contract. It's possible that the Sherwood contract is the largest deal the Jets will give out this offseason.
