The New York Jets are an interesting team to watch ahead of the NFL's trade deadline. At 2-6, their season is virtually over, but it seems like they're not inclined to hold a fire sale.

Latest rumors indicate the team is interested in giving head coach Aaron Glenn every opportunity to turn this team around, which means giving him his full array of talent to close out the 2026 season.

But that doesn't mean the Jets won't get an offer they can't refuse at some point over the next few days that blows general manager Darren Mougey away. Take last year, for example. No one expected the Sauce Gardner trade until it actually happened.

Latest New York Jets trade intel

Jets unlikely to move on from Breece Hall

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Jets aren't inclined to move on from their recently extended running back, Breece Hall. Considering the emergence of Braelon Allen over the last month of the season, Hall has emerged as a hot name in the rumor mill, but no deal seems imminent.

Now, that doesn't mean things can't heat up over the course of the next few days. The first big running back domino to fall is supposed to be Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, and once he's off the market, the pursuit of Hall should only grow stronger.

We'll see if the Jets end up receiving an offer they can't refuse.

Will McDonald a name Jets would 'listen' to trade offers for

In a separate report in the same article from ESPN's Dan Graziano, the Jets don't feel the need to make any drastic moves ahead of the trade deadline thanks to their already massive stockpile of draft picks.

However, there are some players the team would be willing to move for the right price, and Graziano singled out edge Will McDonald IV as a name to watch. He's under contract through 2027 thanks to his $14.47 million fifth-year option.

Again, though, the Jets are a worse team without McDonald on their defensive line, despite his limited playing time. And upper management seems content with letting the season play out with the roster as is before making a coaching change.

Potential New York Jets trade candidates

DT Harrison Phillips

The emergence of rookie defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. has made Harrison Phillips expendable, and fans should want to see the youngster get more snaps. If a contender is looking for an extra run-stuffing tackle with great leadership skills, the Jets should be willing to flip one of their defensive captains for a Day 3 pick.

CB Nahshon Wright

If a team with championship aspirations is looking to add a cornerback to the mix who is volatile in coverage but has a penchant for forcing turnovers (and may be slightly disgruntled with his current role in New York), the Jets would likely be willing to part with Nahshon Wright for anything at this point.

S Andre Cisco

Andre Cisco is another veteran on an expiring deal who could prove to be valuable depth for a team looking to shore up some weakness en route to a playoff push. With rookie VJ Payne's impending return from injured reserve, the Jets may want to open up some playing time for their seventh-round pick.

Edge Will McDonald IV

Any team looking for a pass-rush specialist should be interested in Will McDonald. Over the last three seasons, he's recorded 21.5 sacks and could be an instant impact player in the right scheme for a playoff contender. If the Jets are lucky, they could hope to net a late Day 2 pick for his services, considering the fact that he's essentially on a cost-controlled two-year deal.

RB Breece Hall

With how well Braelon Allen has been playing for the Jets over the last five games (he's genuinely been one of the best running backs in football), Hall could become trade bait for an RB-needy team. Whoever loses the Jonathan Taylor sweepstakes may turn around and give Darren Mougey a call for New York's recently extended running back.

The Jets are easily the most well-armed team in terms of draft capital heading into the 2027 offseason. They currently boast nine selections, including three first-rounders, thanks to last year's Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams deals.

They could certainly continue to add to that stockpile, or even look to accumulate some extra picks in the 2028 NFL Draft if they wanted to. It depends on how active sellers they plan on being ahead of the trade deadline.
