Despite the emergence of Braelon Allen and the rampant trade rumors that have engulfed the franchise over the last few weeks, the New York Jets are seemingly in no rush to find a trade for running back Breece Hall.
SNY's Connor Hughes reported on Jets Final Drive that, as far as he's heard, the Jets have not engaged in any trade conversations surrounding Hall with any team in the league. Heck, even Aaron Glenn himself said early in the week that the team isn't interested in dealing him away.
But with just about a week to go until the NFL's November 10 trade deadline, there's still time for those trade talks to heat up, but before they do, it feels like there's one other deal that needs to go down before Hall becomes a legitimate trade candidate.
The Indianapolis Colts, who have already begun a fire sale with the likes of shipping out Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, are likely to trade star running back Jonathan Taylor before the deadline comes and goes. Once he is off the market, Hall becomes the next best commodity.
Breece Hall interest should heat up after likely Jonathan Taylor trade
Taylor has been the apple of multiple teams' eyes for the last few weeks now and is easily the best running back available for teams looking for an upgrade in their backfield. The problem has been the price.
The Ringer's Tom Pelissero reported last week that the Colts have already turned down offers of a second-round pick plus another undisclosed draft pick. Over the next several days, either Indianapolis is going to back down on their asking price, or some team will get desperate enough to cough up a first-rounder.
Once that deal goes through, the teams that lose out on Taylor will surely turn their eyes to Hall. With his cost-controlled contract and as one of the league's best two-way threat running backs, he'll surely be an attractive (and cheaper) option for running back-needy teams.
The Jets were holding out hope for a third-round draft pick at last year's trade deadline. They didn't get it then, and they're unlikely to get it now. Will Darren Mougey part ways with his star running back for a fourth-round pick?
With the way Allen is playing, the answer is likely yes. Over the last month, he's been one of the Jets' best players, full stop, and an awkward situation could be brewing once Hall is ready to return from injury.
Once that Taylor trade inevitably goes down, keep your eyes peeled for Hall to be the next big name on the move.
