If you are a New York Jets fan, there isn't much to smile about right now with the team sitting at 2-6, but there have been some really exciting moments as of late, particularly from their young offensive playmakers.

Braelon Allen, the Jets' backup running back to start the season, has been an absolute monster since stepping in for the injured Breece Hall. Sunday's outing against the Las Vegas Raiders was no different.

The 22-year-old carried the ball 21 times for 147 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown scamper midway through the third quarter. Allen's 121 rushing yards in the first half were the most for any running back in the NFL this season.

Aaron Glenn made clear a few weeks ago that once Hall was ready to return, he would step back into his role as the team's starting running back. After several more dominant outings from Allen, though, it's hard to justify taking him off the field.

Braelon Allen has earned the starting job for the New York Jets

As the Jets' starting running back, Allen has, without question, been one of the league's best running backs. He's got 504 yards on 93 carries over the last five games, good for an average of 5.4 yards per tote. That's miles better than Hall, who averaged 3.2 yards per carry over the first three games.

Even when Hall returns, how are the Jets going to justify pulling Allen off the field? His production has been everything New York has been looking for in their run game, and giving him the backseat to a player who wasn't nearly as efficient is only going to hurt an already struggling team.

But handing Allen the starting job puts the Jets in another tough situation. What do they do with Hall, whom they just signed to a meaty three-year extension this past offseason?

Breece Hall trade speculation continues to surround the New York Jets

When Hall was officially ruled out ahead of the Jets' Week 8 matchup against the Raiders, the internet was set ablaze with rumors and theories that a trade was looming.

Nothing seems to be imminent, but with the trade deadline just over a week away (November 10), it's possible a move could be coming. There are several running back-needy teams in the NFL who may not be willing to pay the price for Jonathan Taylor, but could go for the lesser option in Hall.

If the Jets could find a way to get a third-round draft pick for Hall, which is reportedly the price they were looking for last year, it would be hard to pass up.
