The Sauce Gardner trade is truly the gift that keeps on giving.

As if the Indianapolis Colts going from 7-2 to 8-9 last year wasn't enough in the wake of the blockbuster trade that gifted the New York Jets two first-round picks and Adonai Mitchell wasn't enough, it's starting to look like that 2027 first-round pick is going to be even better.

Indianapolis, just a week removed from firing general manager Chris Ballard, has started a fire sale. It looks like they're going to sell off every valuable asset they have in hopes of replenishing their depleted draft capital in the wake of the Gardner trade.

It started with Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson, who was shipped to the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday afternoon, and has continued into the evening in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers to dump defensive tackle DeForest Buckner.

If you listen closely, you can hear the sounds of Jets fans rejoicing all over the country, as Indianapolis' first-round pick continues its trek to the top of the 2027 draft order.

The Colts are clearly headed for a full reset in the 2027 offseason. After starting this season 2-5, it's evident that the only direction they're headed with Shane Steichen and Daniel Jones is down.

In order to make themselves as desirable a landing spot as possible for their next general manager and head coach combination, they're acquiring as much draft capital as they can to help prepare the next decision-maker in rebuilding the team.

As of Tuesday evening, the Colts have accumulated a 2027 third- and fourth-round pick, along with a 2028 fifth-rounder. And the best part is, they probably aren't done yet.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that other hot trade candidates in Indianapolis include wide receiver Josh Downs and Pro Bowl running back Jonathan Taylor, arguably two of the best players remaining on the roster.

If you're a Jets fan, all you can hope is that the team continues its teardown over the next week and a half. The NFL's trade deadline is officially November 10, and it's hard not to think the Colts are only just getting started.

Things may not be great in New York right now, but there is plenty to celebrate with the future draft capital the Jets have. It should only get better as the Colts continue to sell off their assets.
