The New York Jets dropped to 2-4 on the year after losing 26-19 to the New England Patriots in Week 6. While there's a lot of football left to be played, fans are keeping an eye on the 2027 draft order.

With the Jets owning three first-round picks, it's natural that Jets fans are intrigued by how this pans out, but the latest report from the Indianapolis Colts is great news for New York. ESPN and NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that Indianapolis is firing GM Chris Ballard.

With Ballard being the GM who gave the Jets two first-round picks in exchange for cornerback Sauce Gardner, it's clear that New York won this deal.

Colts' Sauce Gardner gamble could haunt that franchise for years

The Colts are 2-4 and just lost to the Tennessee Titans 26-20, who were winless coming into the game. That loss was the final nail in the coffin for Ballard and shows how bad their situation is. With the Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, and Houston Texans on the slate in the next five weeks, things could get ugly in Indy.

This move proves that the Colts are fed up with how things look in Indy, and that's a win for the Jets. While New York has things to improve on, Indianapolis is looking like one of the worst teams in the NFL.

The trade deadline is November 10; there's a chance that the Colts fall to 2-7 and look to be sellers at the trade deadline. Following the loss to the Titans, Colts star DT DeForest Buckner expressed his displeasure.

"I'm sick and tired of the same song and dance every year."

The fact that one of their best players is saying this after that embarrassing loss, and it was followed by Ballard getting axed the next day, is telling.

As things currently stand, the Colts 2027 first-round pick comes in at 10th. Of course, the draft order is going to change between now and the end of the season, but Jets fans should be excited. Based on how the Colts have looked through six weeks, they will gift New York a top-10 pick, with a real shot at landing in the top five.

Darren Mougey found a way to get Ballard to cough up TWO first-rounders for Gardner. While Gardner was a two-time All-Pro with the Jets, getting that sort of return was outstanding. You see why Mougey couldn't turn that offer better, and as time goes on, the move continues to age well.

With 12 more weeks left in the regular season, Jets fans will keep a close eye on how the Colts' season unfolds, but the Ballard firing goes to show that New York won that deal. Now it comes down to how high that pick will land.
