The New York Jets have gone through a plethora of injuries on both sides of the football to open up the 2026 season. From a defensive standpoint, the likes of Minkah Fitzpatrick, David Onyemata, D'Angelo Ponds, among others, have all missed time through the first three games.

From an offensive standpoint, it's been even more noticeable. Key skill position pieces in Adonai Mitchell, Omar Cooper Jr., Mason Taylor, and Tim Patrick have missed time to open up the year. On Sunday, the offense took another hit when Dylan Parham and Breece Hall went down.

Hall is the headline of the two, though, listed as week-to-week with a thigh injury at least sidelining him for Sunday's third straight NFC North contest against the Chicago Bears.

For a run game that has already seen struggles over the last two weeks, Hall's injury only adds fuel to those struggles. With Hall out, though, expect Braelon Allen to take over as the lead back and a forgotten piece, Isaiah Davis, to step into a larger role.

Three weeks into the 2026 season, Davis has yet to play an offensive snap, with his only playing time coming on special teams with 56 snaps through three games. Behind Hall, Allen has been the only other running back featured in the offense thus far.

For Davis, after entering camp with a chance to compete for the second running back spot behind Hall, the 24-year-old suffered a knee injury, which kept him out for the majority of camp. Fast forward to three weeks in, and Davis has been a non-factor despite being healthy.

With Hall out, it opens up a big opportunity for the third-year running back to earn more reps, slotting in as the number two back behind Allen for the coming weeks.

In Davis' first two seasons, which consisted of 33 games played, the South Dakota State product tallied 73 carries for 410 yards and two touchdowns. Davis also added 30 receptions for 261 yards and a touchdown to his receiving total.

For the Jets, Frank Reich's unit has faced early-season struggles on the ground. After a strong week one performance, the offensive line has taken a step back, and the run game has as well. The Jets are averaging just 3.3 yards per carry as a team this season.

Over the last two weeks, the Jets are averaging just 3.6 yards per carry with a healthy Hall. Despite a small sample size, Davis has shown flashes when called upon since being selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Davis has showcased himself as a capable third-down back who also provides pass-catching upside and speed when getting to the second and third levels of the defense.

It's been a slow start to the season for Davis from a playing time perspective, but with Hall out, look for Davis' name to be mentioned a lot more coming up.
