They were bound to add someone, at least to the practice squad.

The New York Jets' offensive line, which has been under the microscope the last two weeks as is, suffered a pretty big blow this past Sunday when starting left guard Dylan Parham went down with a knee injury.

New York was quick to rule out Parham from the remainder of the contest, and backup lineman Jordan Meredith finished the game at left guard for the Jets. His play left a bit to be desired, but what else can you expect from a player coming in cold off the bench?

Regardless, with Kohl Levao as the only other option on the practice squad, the Jets needed to add some more depth to their interior offensive line, and they did just that on Tuesday. The New York Post's Brian Costello reported that New York is signing Nick Dawkins and Jimmy Morrissey to the practice squad. Both players have experience at guard and center.

In another move reported by Costello, the Jets waived defensive back Jordan Clark. New York signed Clark to their active roster after Minkah Fitzpatrick's groin injury, but with D'Angelo Ponds back in the lineup, he was deemed expendable.

What do the New York Jets' IOL signings mean for Dylan Parham's injury?

As of Tuesday afternoon, there has still been no news on the severity of Parham's injury. We received an update on Breece Hall, who also suffered a game-exiting injury on Monday, but the former Las Vegas Raiders lineman's status remains uncertain.

The injury is a tough blow not only for the Jets but also a bummer for Parham himself. The 27-year-old was quietly having a monster season, though the sample size was small.

According to Pro Football Focus, Parham had been the NFL's second-best guard, recording a grade of 88.7. He was particularly dominant in the run game, recording a PFF run-blocking grade of 90.4, ranked second-best among 73 qualified players.

If the veteran misses any time, expect Meredith to hold down the left guard spot for the Jets. Hopefully, with a full week of practice under his belt, he'll be able to build up some more chemistry with his fellow starting offensive linemen and put out a better performance in Week 4.

Again, it's unclear at this time how many, if any, games Parham will miss. There's an outside chance he could even be active for the Jets' next matchup against the Chicago Bears.

In the meantime, it was wise for them to go out and add some extra bodies just in case the injury bug starts to nip at the Jets' offensive line.
