All in all, a positive update.

New York Jets running back Breece Hall left Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions with what was initially described as a thigh injury. Head coach Aaron Glenn declined to give any updates after the game and even on Monday morning, but it seems the information has started to leak to the national media.

ESPN and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Hall suffered a quad injury in the 31-24 loss to the Lions. He's considered week-to-week and is likely to miss the Jets' Week 4 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Despite the diagnosis, Rapoport deemed it "good news" as the injury could have been more significant. The MRI proved otherwise.

Hall, outside of his torn ACL in his rookie season, is typically a very healthy and durable player. Over the last three seasons, he has only missed two games. He's set to miss some time now, but he should be back in the Jets' lineup sooner rather than later.

New York Jets set to turn to Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis

With Hall down for a bit, expect a heavy dosage of running backs Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis for the Jets going forward.

Allen has already been serving as the Jets' secondary running back throughout the team's first three games. So far in 2026, the 22-year-old has carried the ball 19 times for 61 yards and a touchdown. His 3.2 yards per carry is just a bit disappointing.

Davis, on the other hand, hasn't played an offensive snap yet this year. It's a bit of a head-scratcher, considering the fact that the former fifth-round draft pick has been fairly productive in limited touches throughout his NFL career.

On 73 attempts, Davis has rushed for 410 yards and ran for two touchdowns. His career yards per carry of 5.6 is a good number, and hopefully he can keep that up while Hall is out.

Will the New York Jets add another running back?

With Hall out, the Jets only have two healthy running backs in Allen and Davis. Kene Nwangwu has yet to appear in a game with his lingering back injury, and they only have undrafted free agent Al-Jay Henderson on the practice squad.

It's possible they look to make a minor addition to the practice squad, similar to how they added Sterling Shepard and Tyler Johnson in the wake of injuries to their wide receiver room. That move would likely come this week.
