Darrelle Revis wants to betray the Jets for another AFC East rival

The New York Jets may not be one of the most historically adept franchises in the history of the NFL, but that doesn't change the fact that they've boasted some of the best talents in league history.

Hall of Fame cornerback Darrelle Revis, who had one of the highest peaks of any player at his position, was one such talent. Over eight seasons with the Jets, he was a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro.

Of course, you would be remiss to mention Revis' illustrious NFL career without arguably his biggest glory as a Super Bowl champion. Regrettably, the former first-round draft pick won Super Bowl XLIX as a member of the New England Patriots, a sad stain in the eyes of Jets fans.

As if that wasn't enough pain for Jets fans, it seems Revis is interested in serving another AFC East rival as of late, and he told The Athletic's Tim Graham as much.

Former Jets defensive back Jim Leonhard, who spent three years in New York from 2009 to 2011, has ascended the coaching ranks and landed a defensive coordinator job with the Buffalo Bills. After several years as an assistant in the college ranks and with the Denver Broncos, he's finally received the chance to run his own defense.

Revis remembers his time playing alongside Leonhard well in New York and believes he has what it takes to one day become an NFL head coach. He's also hoping that his former teammate can land him a job as a defensive backs coach in Buffalo.

"I think Jim will be a future head coach. Tell him if he needs a secondary coach to give me a call. Maybe this is my interview where I tell Jim that if he ever needs help, to keep me at the top of the list," he told Graham. “I’m not joking at all. I’ve always loved the game, and I’ve always loved playing with Jim."

The Hall of Fame cornerback is clearly making a pitch to join his ex-teammates' coaching staff. Whether or not that offer ends up coming remains to be seen.

Regardless, for Jets fans, in the hypothetical scenario that Revis winds up joining Buffalo, it would be the second time in his football life that he would be facing the team that drafted him as a divisional rival.

It's doubtful any Jets fans are hoping for that scenario to come to fruition.
