Darelle Revis is one of the best players to ever put on a New York Jets uniform, and certainly the greatest of the 21st century.

The 14th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, Revis was part of what made the Jets' defense so special for their back-to-back AFC championship game appearances, and if it wasn't for him, New York would've had a lot less success.

But where does Revis rank among all New York athletes in the 2000s? In a century where the New York Yankees and New York Giants won several championships, was Revis Island's individual play enough to get him in the top 10?

Bleacher Report's Joey Akeley compiled a list of the greatest New York athletes of this century, and Revis was the only Jets player to crack the list at No. 10.

"Darrelle Revis' first five seasons with the Jets were one of the greatest cornerback peaks in NFL history. The numbers were great (95 passes defensed, 18 INTs), but they don't tell the whole story. Revis routinely played man coverage against the best receivers in the NFL and totally shut them down. Had Revis won a Super Bowl with the Jets, he'd be much higher on this list. "

There aren't many other Jets that fans will have fonder memories of than Revis in the late 2000s and early 2010s.

A homegrown player developing into an All-Pro caliber talent and arguably the greatest cornerback of his generation was good enough to crack the list, but not enough to get up any higher.

Ahead of Revis were names such as Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist, Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson, Liberty forward Breanna Stewart, Giants defensive end Michael Strahan, Giants quarterback Eli Manning, and a wide variety of Yankees headlined by shortstop Derek Jeter, who came in at No. 1.

Despite spending eight of his 11 career seasons with the Jets, his only Super Bowl ring came with the New England Patriots, certainly a fact that stings with fans to this day.

Regardless, Revis is the Jets' greatest player of the modern era, and you could even make the argument that he is the most dominant member of Gang Green in franchise history.
