The New York Jets made Breece Hall the third-highest-paid running back in the league on Friday, inking him to a three-year contract worth $45.75 million.
It was a win-win for both Hall and the Jets, with the star running back getting his long-awaited payday, and New York getting one of their best offensive players under contract for the next three years.
After a few months of speculation about whether or not Hall and his representatives would get a deal done before the franchise tag deadline in mid-July, everyone can step back and take a collective sigh of relief.
But for the Jets running back, today is a long-awaited day that every player in the NFL hopes for, and that's earning long-term security with a lucrative contract extension.
Breece Hall can't contain emotions after landing new contract from Jets
After the news broke about Hall's extension, the 2022 second-round pick took to X to share his emotions, and he revealed what it meant to him to land the long-term deal.
Cried for the first time since I tore my ACL. This day really hit different for me man🙏🏾🤞🏾

In what is surely a surreal and passionate day for Hall, it's incredibly authentic of him to share how he's feeling. For him to come back from a torn ACL to land this type of contract is something you don't always see from young players who get injured.
Hall took the league by storm in his rookie season, helping lead the Jets to a 5-2 start with 80 carries for 463 yards, toting the football for an average of 5.8 yards per carry.
Then came the disastrous Week 7 game against the Denver Broncos that cost New York both Hall and Alijah Vera-Tucker, with the running back tearing his ACL and Vera-Tucker tearing his triceps.
That game spelled doom for the Jets' 2022 season, but it also cast a dark cloud over Hall's future in the league. Would he ever come back the same after suffering such a serious injury?
The answer was yes, he would. Hall would come back in time for Week 1 of the 2023 season, and in the years since, he's accumulated 2,935 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.
For Hall to not only come back from the ACL, but still be productive after the fact, is a testament to his willpower and resiliance, and it's a major reason why he earned his contract extension in the first place.
It's why his emotions are more than warranted after earning the deal, and it's an inspirational story for one of the top running backs in football.
