For the first time since Week 3, the New York Jets will have their running back room at 100% operating capacity. Breece Hall, who has been out for the last five games recovering from a quad injury, confirmed today that he's on track to suit up against the Kansas City Chiefs, per ESPN's Rich Cimini.
Some fans may not exactly be excited to hear that. Braelon Allen has been nothing short of dominant as the lead back in Hall's absence. He's got an average of 5.42 yards per carry, which is second-best in the league over that span.
Offensive coordinator Frank Reich raised eyebrows on Thursday with a comment saying that Hall would be the bell cow back once he returned to the lineup, which is a questionable decision at best. But it seems like Hall is ready to step back in and show the fans what he's got.
Breece Hall acknowledges Braelon Allen's awesome play for the New York Jets
Speaking with reporters for the first time since his injury, Hall asserted that he's still a starting running back and said Allen has been "playing good."
It's safe to say Allen has been playing a little bit better than just "good."
"Yeah, still a starter, still a very good running back in this league. Obviously, Braelon's been playing good. And I think him and the o-line and the offense have caught their stride after the first three, four games. So it's gonna be good to just get in there, just play some ball."
It will be interesting to see just how the Jets split the reps between Hall and Allen in Kansas City. Will it be a true 50-50 split, or will Hall genuinely see more touches?
There's always the chance the Jets are bluffing a bit, and Hall is used sparingly against the Chiefs with the trade deadline just days after their trip to Kansas City.
Breece Hall addresses shutting down his social media account
Shortly after the end of the Jets' Week 8 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, Hall deactivated his X account, sparking rumors about a potential trade and his current standing with the team.
Hall revealed that the reason he shut down his social media was because of threats he was receiving against him and his family, a great reason to stay off the internet.
Hopefully, Hall doesn't have to keep worrying about internet trolls, and they'll go away sooner rather than later.
