Aaron Glenn takes another jab from media ahead of pivotal Jets season

What did the Jets do to anger CBS Sports?

Of all the national media outlets, CBS Sports has been perhaps the New York Jets’ most vocal critic this offseason.

For once, though, veteran receiver Garrett Wilson isn’t the target of their insults.

Instead, NFL analyst Jordan Dajani believes that second-year coach Aaron Glenn has the hottest seat league-wide entering the 2026 season.

To his credit, Dajani didn’t take the fully negative approach that some of his colleagues have.

Dajani made sure to praise the Jets for a productive offseason, highlighted by the Geno Smith trade and their three first-round picks.

How hot is Jets head coach Aaron Glenn’s seat?

However, Dajani didn’t truly explain why he believes Glenn is at greater risk of losing his job than, say, Shane Steichen or Todd Bowles.

“I would argue the Jets are one of the NFL's most improved teams on paper,” Dajani wrote. “That doesn't mean they're going to make the playoffs, but the foundation is in place.”

If that’s the case, then why did Glenn place above Bowles, Steichen, or Zac Taylor?

The Buccaneers and Colts both collapsed last year, blowing strong starts and missing the postseason entirely.

Steichen is 25-26 in three seasons, hasn’t made the playoffs, and failed to develop Anthony Richardson.

Taylor and the Bengals haven’t reached the postseason since 2022, and blaming Joe Burrow’s durability only goes so far.

We must also point out that, outside of Robert Saleh, the Jets historically have not fired head coaches midseason under Woody Johnson.

Cincinnati’s core, now lacking All-Pro pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson, should have been a Super Bowl contender.

Bowles and the Buccaneers’ championship window is rapidly closing, especially given Baker Mayfield’s contract situation.

Yet, Glenn has the hottest seat because the Jets failed to record an interception and held the No. 2 pick?

If Johnson didn’t think Glenn was capable, it would have made far more sense to take a cue from the Patriots and Jerod Mayo.

New England went one-and-done with Jerod Mayo because the Patriots had the chance to hire Mike Vrabel.

The Jets could easily have done the same with Kevin Stefanski or John Harbaugh, assuming that either would have been interested.

That’s not to say that Stefanski is as good a coach as Vrabel or Harbaugh.

However, Stefanski is far more proven than Glenn, and he reached the postseason twice in Cleveland.

Should Glenn be on the hot seat? Absolutely, especially if he continues to look overmatched

But putting Glenn No. 1 just reeks of CBS Sports’ continued anti-Jets bias — and this is coming from someone who has been vocally critical of Glenn’s Year 1 performance.

At this rate, CBS Sports would give the Jets an “F” if they went 7-10 and had four players make the Pro Bowl.

We get it, Jordan. The Jets are bad, and we must point and laugh at them.
