The New York Jets dropped arguably the worst game of the Aaron Glenn era on Sunday, losing to the previously winless Miami Dolphins 28-25. In the first game of the season where the Jets were truly expected to win going away, they completely failed to rise to the moment.

It was like every problem the Jets have faced at different times throughout the 2026 season reared its ugly head at the worst possible time. The offense had some head-scratching plays; the defense failed to get any stops or generate turnovers when they needed them most, and it all culminated in one of the worst losses in recent memory.

There were some minor positives to take away from the game and some major negatives that will make Jets fans want to pull their hair out after their eighth consecutive AFC East loss.

Winners and losers from the New York Jets' Week 7 loss to the Dolphins

Winner: WR Omar Cooper Jr.

For the second consecutive week, the Jets didn't have many bright spots on offense except for rookie wideout Omar Cooper Jr. The first-round draft pick popped off against Miami, hauling in five catches for 115 yards and a touchdown.

Cooper became the first Jets rookie to record back-to-back 100-yard receiving games since Al Toon in 1985, and the first rookie in franchise history to hit the back-to-back century mark with receiving touchdowns in both games.

Loser: HC Aaron Glenn

There's no bigger slice of blame pie for this embarrassing loss to hand out than to the Jets' head coach. Glenn coached a horrendous game, and his team came out flat-footed against a team they absolutely should've been able to take care of.

Glenn is now 0-8 in AFC East play throughout his tenure as head coach in New York, and that's essentially with only one matchup against Josh Allen under his belt. It's getting harder and harder to defend Glenn as the guy who will one day turn this team around.

Winner: RB Braelon Allen

Despite Breece Hall recording two consecutive limited practices to close out the week, he was ultimately ruled out early Sunday morning, giving Braelon another week of lead duties in the Jets backfield.

Allen flourished for the third straight week, carrying the ball 17 times for 104 yards and hauling in six catches for 30 yards. He proved, once again, that even once Hall returns, he deserves to have a featured role in New York's running game.

Loser: WR Garrett Wilson

Garrett Wilson is starting to get really frustrated with his role in the Jets offense, and it's not hard to see why. The superstar wide receiver only received one target in the first half, en route to an all-around fairly lethargic offensive half for New York.

He finished the game with two catches for 26 yards and was visibly annoyed on the Jets sideline. CBS cameras caught him chewing out passing game coordinator Seth Ryan. The best teams find ways to get the ball in the hands of their best players, and the Jets need to start figuring it out, regardless of opposing defensive game plans.

Winner: TE Mason Taylor

With both Wilson and returning wide receiver Adonai Mitchell largely out of the picture against the Dolphins, Geno Smith leaned heavily on a tight end in the passing game, and no, it wasn't Kenyon Sadiq. 2025 draft pick Mason Taylor had pretty much his best game as a pro on Sunday.

The former second-round draft pick hauled in five of six targets for 62 yards, including two pretty impressive touchdown grabs over the top of Dolphins defenders. After scoring his first career touchdown on National Tight Ends Day last year, Taylor one-upped himself in 2026.

Loser: Jets defense

It was hard to pick a handful of Jets defenders as the "losers" of the Dolphins' loss, but all in all, it was a terrible day for just about every starter. You would've thought this was Miami's 2023 offense, with Tua Tagovailoa at the peak of his powers, throwing to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Instead, it was Malik Willis dicing up the Jets' defense with his arms and legs, completing 66.6% of his passes for 208 yards and three total touchdowns. Ollie Gordon rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown, and Greg Dulcich caught five passes for 86 yards.

Losing T'Vondre Sweat mid-game is no excuse for the Jets defense to play as they did, and it felt like on every key play, the Dolphins had someone open. Glenn's unit has been pretty solid all year long, but against an opponent with a clear talent deficit, they looked a heck of a lot worse.
