Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick of the New York Jets has officially won the Player of the Week award for his huge performance in Week 2.
When the New York Jets finally came to terms on a one-year/$12M contract with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, the majority breathed a sigh of relief. They knew what they had with Fitzpatrick last season and wanted to bring him back to continue the momentum. He won’t play like this every game but at least for now, he’s picking up exactly where he left off from last year.

In Week 2 against his former team the Buffalo Bills, Fitzpatrick put on a clinic. It was to the point that as per Randy Lange of NewYorkJets.com, Fitzpatrick has officially been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
The Jets beat the Bills 37-31 as Fitzpatrick totaled 374 passing yards, 24 completions, and a touchdown. He was a catalyst on offense that was finally able to get a win over the Bills as a member of the Jets under their new leadership regime.
Sure, Fitzpatrick might not have a high amount of arm strength or be able to hit wide receivers deep in stride but he brings so much more to the table. His familiarity on offense, being a leader in the locker room, and being able to come through in the clutch, for the most part, has put the Jets right back into being a competitive team.

So far in his tenure with the Jets, this is Fitzpatrick’s third ever AFC Player of the Week award.
He’s earned this award five times so far over his career and at the rate Fitzpatrick is going, could have more coming his way this season.
Another test awaits as he will lead the Jets on the road in Week 3 action against the Kansas City Chiefs.
It won’t be easy but this huge victory in Week 2 will provide some great motivation to keep at it despite a brutal schedule that awaits.
Whether you love that the Jets brought Fitzpatrick back or wish they went in a different direction at quarterback, there is no denying the impact he’s had so far with the Jets.
