Live & Let Die…

AUTHOR: Brad Cotter | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

All I know is that most analysts in Week 2 were screaming for Brett Favre to throw the ball more… I felt so alone with only a hand full of Jets Fans who thought the move to Favre was ridiculous. There was still only a few of us begging for Mangini not to listen to the media and to allow this running game to develop. Well, looks like everyone else is starting to realize the truth. Luckily, we’re not holding grudges. We all want the same thing, and that’s a team we can be proud of, not some circus show. [...]

It is what it is…

AUTHOR: Brad Cotter | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: None Yet

Some of us knew when we signed Favre for double the price of Pennington that there was a good reason. Of course the EBay bids for the PSL’s will surely be higher while watching the human highlight for the season… one goes for the TD, the next goes the other way for a TD. Whatever sells right?
I’ve said since Day 1 that I hope it changes, but I just don’t see it. Sorry, I wish I did. Favre has continually been the cause of the turnovers that this team has been hobbled with. The Chiefs had no business being in this [...]

What’s up Big Herm!

AUTHOR: Brad Cotter | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: None Yet

In a game that shapes up to be make or break for the Jets, we can only hope that our ol’ pal Herm is thinking draft pick!!! The Jets have now put themselves in a position where winning is the only option. With a loss today they would fall too far back in the AFC East from a two game stretch they have no business losing.
Here’s what I’m looking for between the lines…
Everyone has been pounding the Chiefs on the ground with a nice deal of success. I would expect nothing less from the Jets today. Jones and Washington need [...]

It Just Isn’t Working…

AUTHOR: Brad Cotter | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: None Yet

I couldn’t agree with Jay more that this is getting ridiculous. The team has no chemistry and they just aren’t getting the job done. The part where we totally disagree is the reason for it. I said since day 1 that I thought this team was primed for a run with Chad Pennington. He knew this offense like the back of his hand and every year he was healthy, the Jets were in the playoffs. They finally went out and got him an offensive line, a pro-bowl fullback, and a defense that could stop the run. Pennington did have limitations, somewhat [...]

Mangini Must Go

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: None Yet

I have very little to say after that and in fact will defer to the esteemed Brad Cotter but what I will offer is as a long suffering Jets fan who has given the benefit of the doubt to Eric Mangini for 2.5 seasons I’ve seen enough. I’m bitter and angry and if he can’t do more with the $140 million + Brett Favre upgrade to this team than 3-3 at this point all I can say is I’ve seen enough.
And make no mistake — the Jets are lucky to be 3-3. They have not played a complete game all [...]

JETS & BETS… Week 7, LAAAA RAAIIDDDDEERRRSSSS!

AUTHOR: Brad Cotter | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Jets are in Oakland today to combat a Raiders team that is traditionally tough at home. Gang Green had a rough time last trip to the west coast, so all bets are off here. The Jets better hope they see the Raider team from last week and not the one that went into Buffalo and almost pulled the upset.
I’m expecting a large dose of the ground game from the Raiders which should keep the game fairly close. It’s curious to me why the Raiders haven’t shown a Wildcat formation like McFadden perfected at Arkansas and Miami is so successful [...]

The Mean Green Run Stuffin’ Machine!!!

AUTHOR: Brad Cotter | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: None Yet

Once again Gang Green has crawled up the rankings in the rush defense stats! The Jets are now ranked 3rd in the league in rush defense. The Jets fall only below the Steelers and Ravens, which is in most part due to the San Diego game where our man Kris Jenkins was hurt! Jenkins so far has been the biggest off season acquisition the Jets have made. The achilles heal of this team for years has been stopping the run and now they have the NT they’ve always wanted. The linebacking corps are open to stuff the opposition and go after [...]

RECAP: IT WASN’T PRETTY!!!

AUTHOR: Brad Cotter | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well, a win is a win. This kind of an effort won’t get it done against the better teams in this league, but I’ll be happy with a W.
The turnovers, especially in Field Goal Range are just heart breakers. Thankfully, the Bengals couldn’t capitalize on those mistakes. When the Jets had a 6 point lead in FG range, they make better decisions. I can appreciate the excitement that Favre brings, but these decisions will ultimately catch up to the Jets when they play solid teams. On the bright side, Favre does look more confident in his receivers! Coles and J.CO made [...]

Bets & Bungals…

AUTHOR: Brad Cotter | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: None Yet

Week 6 certainly was scary before we learned Carson Palmer was injured. Now, it turns into a “should” win game for the Jets. We know that the Jets Achilles heal has been the coverage of 4 wide and that’s what we should expect from Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Bengals. Here’s NFL.com’s Preview!!!

Cincinnati is a live dog coming in because they have nothing to lose. They have plenty of talent and have had some close one’s with the Cowboys and Giants. I would expect 4 WR’s regardless of who is behind center.
On offense the Jets need to keep the ball moving. This [...]

Week 6 Preview

AUTHOR: Brad Cotter | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

With the bye week concluded, the Jets are going to need to get back to business as they are welcoming in a Bengals squad who has in recent weeks played extremely tough in the Meadowlands against the G-Men & in Big D vs. the Cowboys.
This by no means will be easy. The Jets need to control the ball in this game and put heavy pressure on Carson Palmer. The Bengals were extremely tough up the middle in recent weeks, but have been vulnerable on the edge.
We caught a break this week with the Cardinals taking out the Bills so the [...]
