There is no question that public enemy No. 1 right now in the world of the New York Jets is Aaron Glenn. After dropping to 5-19 over his first season and a half on the job in New York, Glenn has shown nothing but the fact that he is in over his head as head coach of the Jets.

Fans, who are now in the acceptance stage that their playoff drought will now extend to 17 years, are longing for the days of old. Everyone misses the days of Rex Ryan, of course, but at this point, people would be all for the days of Herm Edwards, when the postseason was at least an every-other-year ordeal.

Ryan, who now spends his days as an analyst for ESPN, at least knows what winning football in New York looks like, despite how short-lived that time was for his own tenure as head coach.

In a recent segment on ESPN's DiPietro & Rothenberg, the former head coach gave a scathing review of the current Jets coaching staff and, in the same breath, sent a shot at Glenn while defending his son, current passing game coordinator Seth Ryan.

Rex Ryan shreds the New York Jets coaching staff for 2-5 start

Ryan laid into Glenn and his coaching staff for the lack of the finer details that seem to keep hurting the Jets in the biggest moments.

"Like I say, just hammer the damn details right now, hammer the details, and get this team ready to go... It starts with your leadership as a head coach... Look, there's so many prideful kids on that team. When I watch them, I can see it. And that's a great thing. That's what gives me optimism."

Ryan acknowledged he's not exactly the most unbiased person to give analysis on the state of the Jets right now. Not only does he still have ties to the organization, but his son is currently on the coaching staff.

But the former head coach made a fairly telling comment about which members of the staff are putting in the most work when he revealed that Seth is typically the last coach in the building.

"I know one thing... every night he'll (Seth) send me a picture, and his car's the last one in the damn parking lot. Everybody's got to be like that."

Is Ryan essentially saying that his son, as an assistant offensive coach, is the only member of the staff burning the midnight oil at 1 Jets Drive? If so, that's pretty embarrassing for Glenn and even offensive coordinator Frank Reich.

It's time for everyone to lock all the way in, if they haven't been doing it already. Their backs are already against the wall, and this scathing review from Ryan should just be another kick in the behind to get things in gear.
