The New York Jets have now acquired their second Las Vegas Raiders player in as many days. Just a few days after acquiring quarterback Geno Smith to be their 2026 starter, the Jets agreed to terms with left guard Dylan Parham on a two-year contract worth $16 million that could scale up to $20 million.
While signing a Las Vegas lineman after the travesty that was last season seems like a tough pill to swallow, one Raiders expert is adamant that the Jets may get the best of Parham. He may not have been the main reason why that offensive line as a unit was such a mess.
According to Levi Dombro, FanSided's site expert over at Just Blog Baby, Parham was a victim of circumstance last season and could thrive in an offense without as much external noise around it.
"Parham had an up-and-down career with the Raiders, but he wasn't exactly surrounded by a competent offense," Dombro said. "He can play both guard spots, also lined up at center in college, and was a key fixture when Josh Jacobs earned the rushing title in 2022. Parham got better every year until 2025, but you can call last season a wash for anyone involved with Brennan Carroll, Chip Kelly and the Las Vegas offense."
Raiders expert thinks Dylan Parham can succeed with Jets
While there are very few positive things to say about the Raiders' offensive line last season, Parham appeared to have put together a fairly average season. His 63.6 Pro Football Focus grade ranked 38th among 81 guards in the NFL, which represents fairly solid value at $8 million per year.
This move was pre-empted by John Simpson rejoining the Baltimore Ravens on a three-year, $30 million contract. Not only did Parham grade out better than Simpson, but he is both younger and less likely to commit penalties.
Parham is stated to be the starting left guard sandwiched between Olu Fashanu at left tackle and Josh Myers at center. With Joe Tippmann at right guard and Armand Membou at right tackle, the Jets have the ability to once again roll into 2026 with their offensive line as an area of strength.
Adding Parham and using a pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on someone who can compete with Myers shows that Mougey is doing what he can to keep the one above-average unit on this roster operating as such.
