In today's episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss the latest DeAndre Hopkins rumors, Le'Veon Bell's recent comments, and more.
Hopkins remains a free agent after he was released by the Arizona Cardinals last week, and the Jets have been one of a few teams connected to rumors surrounding the three-time All-Pro wide receiver.
Head coach Robert Saleh spoke to reporters on Wednesday and essentially shut down any talk that the Jets could sign Hopkins. That doesn't mean the team shouldn't be interested, however.
Both Justin and Mike expressed support for the Jets signing Hopkins, calling the move a "no-brainer." The Jets can easily make it work from a financial standpoint, and there's no denying that Hopkins isn't still one of the most productive wide receivers in football.
Justin and Mike made their cases for why the Jets should sign Hopkins, even if it seems clear that the organization isn't willing to play ball.
If not Hopkins, which other free agents could the Jets look to sign? Justin and Mike each highlighted one free agent remaining on the market that the Jets should consider signing.
Mike's player of focus was former Green Bay Packers safety Adrian Amos, while Justin broke down veteran linebacker Zach Cunningham and why he could potentially replace Kwon Alexander on defense.
Remember the Jimmy Garoppolo rumors from earlier this offseason? Following reports that he failed his physical with the Las Vegas Raiders, Justin and Mike reminisced on those rumors and recounted how the Jets dodged a major bullet.
Finally, Justin and Mike discussed Le'Veon Bell's recent comments about Adam Gase and how his former head coach ultimately contributed to Sam Darnold's failures in New York. It's hard to argue with anything Bell said.
