3. The NY Jets can sign Jacoby Brissett

Jacoby Brissett is very much in the same tier as Andy Dalton — a veteran QB who overachieved in a lackluster situation, but probably won't be treated as a starter this offseason.

Brissett played some of the best football of his career with the Cleveland Browns last season, even outplaying the franchise's supposed franchise quarterback, Deshaun Watson. That shouldn't go unnoticed.

At best, Brissett is a low-end starter who can win a few games for a team. He, and Dalton for that matter, is likely a last-resort option for the Jets if all else fails.

2. The NY Jets can sign Jimmy Garoppolo

Now, we get into the two realistic starting options for the Jets in free agency. Jimmy Garoppolo rumors have died down quite a bit in recent weeks, but he remains an option for the Jets if they miss out on their preferred targets.

Garoppolo has experience with Robert Saleh and is a proven starting-caliber quarterback. He isn't going to win you many games by himself, but he won't lose you many either.

The issues with Garoppolo begin with injury concerns. The 31-year-old has played a full season just once in nine years in the NFL and is coming off a foot injury that ended his 2022 season prematurely.

If the Jets miss out on Aaron Rodgers and the last player on our list, Garoppolo would likely be their top target.

1. The NY Jets can sign Derek Carr

If the Jets are going to sign any quarterback, it's likely going to be Derek Carr. Carr visited with the Jets this past weekend, and after reports indicated that the visit went "very well," they're now the favorites to land the four-time Pro Bowler.

The Jets remain committed to Aaron Rodgers as their preferred QB target, but there's no guarantee that he will be available. Carr figures to be their pivot option if Rodgers retires or stays in Green Bay.

There is no free-agent quarterback more likely to sign with the Jets this offseason than Derek Carr. He's one of their top two options at the position.
