Just a few weeks after being benched for the no-longer-employed Tim Boyle, NY Jets quarterback Zach Wilson was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week following his career day against the Houston Texans in Week 14.

Wilson finished the game completing 27-of-36 passes for 301 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. It was the best game of Wilson's NFL career, and he received some well-deserved honors for his efforts.

Wilson was also the recipient of ESPN's "HIMMY" award, which is voted on by fans each week and presented to the player who had the best performance that week. Jets punter Thomas Morstead won the same award earlier in the year.

It's nice to see Wilson receive the credit he deserves for his career-best performance in Week 14. No one knows what the future holds for Wilson and the Jets, but for at least this week, both the player and team can bask in their glory.

Other NY Jets news

Jets sign a developmental offensive tackle

The Jets worked out a trio of offensive linemen on Tuesday, signing one of them, former TCU offensive tackle Obinna Eze, to their practice squad.

Eze was originally signed by the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft. He spent his entire rookie season on the Lions' practice squad before being waived as part of final roster cuts the following summer.

After a brief stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers in October, Eze agreed to terms with the USFL's Michigan Panthers but was quickly released to sign with the Jets.

At 6-foot-6, 322 pounds, Eze has excellent size and athleticism but remains a work in progress. The Nigerian native didn't even start playing the sport until his junior year of high school. Eze is an ideal developmental offensive tackle project who can grow on the Jets' practice squad.
