The NY Jets' meeting with Derek Carr this past weekend reportedly went very well, so much so that both sides erased any concerns they had going into the visit. The Jets were certainly very complimentary of the QB they could be targeting.

ESPN's Diani Russini reported on Tuesday that the Jets made quite the pitch to Carr. They reportedly told Carr that they believe he can be a first-ballot Hall of Famer if he wins in New York. That's a bold claim.

Remember, the Jets are trying to do everything they can to convince Carr that they're an attractive destination. Not only did Carr and head coach Robert Saleh reportedly "hit it off," but the Jets also clearly praised Carr quite a bit.

It's no wonder that Carr came away feeling good about the meeting — they certainly told him what he wanted to hear. Could Carr be a Hall of Famer if he wins in New York? Does it really matter? The only thing that matters is if Carr believes it.

Other NY Jets news

High praise for new Jets WR coach Zach Azzanni

The Jets hired their new wide receivers coach on Tuesday in the form of longtime Denver Broncos wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni, and the team has received some praise for the hire.

NFL Network's James Palmer spoke about the Azzanni hire on Tuesday, and he made it clear that the Jets were getting a highly respected coach who was a top assistant in Denver.

Azzanni had been with Denver since 2019, notably surviving multiple coaching staffs. He was originally hired by Vance Joseph, only to serve as the team's wide receivers coach under the likes of Vic Fangio and Nathaniel Hackett as well.

Azzanni has been credited with helping develop the likes of Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, and Tim Patrick. It seems as though the Jets got Denver's version of Brant Boyer — a highly-regarded assistant coach who survived multiple coaching staff overhauls.

Boomer Esiason calls the Aaron Rodgers and the NY Jets 'a match made in heaven'

Former NFL quarterback, and current WFAN radio analyst, Boomer Esiason has been known to say some controversial things from time to time, but his recent take on Aaron Rodgers likely went over pretty well with Jets fans.

Esiason spoke about Rodgers and the Jets on a recent edition of "Boomer and Gio," and the Long Island native said that he believes the Jets and Rodgers are "a match made in heaven."

Esiason insisted that Rodgers is in "total control" of his situation and that if he does decide he wants to play in 2023, it won't be with the Green Bay Packers. That ship has apparently sailed.

It seems as though Esiason believes the Jets have a really good chance to land Rodgers this offseason, and he certainly supports the idea.
