Everyone loves a good revenge game narrative, but for a revenge game to mean something, typically both sides need to be playing for something. At the very least, both sides usually need to have something to contribute to said revenge game.

That might not be the case when former NY Jets safety Jamal Adams takes on his former team in 2024. At least, that's the perspective shared by many Jets fans.

Adams officially signed a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday, setting the stage for him to face his former team in Week 2 of the 2024 season. Adams joins former Jets defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson, now a defensive coordinator, in Tennessee.

The former All-Pro safety has seen his stock plummet since leaving the Jets to join the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the 2020 season. It's safe to say that Jets fans aren't too concerned about the idea of their favorite team facing Adams in 2024.

The NY Jets hope to get the last laugh against Jamal Adams in Week 2

This will mark the second time that Adams has faced his former team, only this time the Jets will be hoping the result is a little different. Back in 2020, Adams and the Seahawks demolished the Jets by a final score of 40-3.

Of course, that was a long time ago. Sam Darnold started at quarterback for the Jets. D.J. Reed was still in his first year with the Seahawks. Heck, Josh Adams was the Jets' leading rusher in that game. Yes, Josh Adams.

Adams hasn't appeared in more than 12 games in a season since his final year with the Jets in 2019. He's played just 10 combined games over the last two years and posted an abysmal 54.9 Pro Football Focus grade last season.

Adams missed a shocking 25.2 percent of his tackle attempts in 2023, the worst among all safeties to play at least 500 defensive snaps. His 50.7 PFF coverage grade was also among the worst players at his position.

This isn't the Jamal Adams the Jets saw in his prime. This version of Adams is more akin to a glorified linebacker who can't consistently tackle, can't cover, and can't stay healthy. There's a reason he was signed to a minimum deal in mid-July.

Jets fans have no reason to be concerned about the prospect of playing Adams in Week 2. If anything, it might be a good thing for the team if he's forced to play significant snaps for the Titans.

This revenge game might not have the same enthusiasm as their meeting four years ago, but it's safe to say that Jets fans are likely a bit more excited about this one.
