Multiple starters expected to be out on final NY Jets injury report for Week 4
By Justin Fried
The NY Jets are set to enter their Week 4 matchup with the Denver Broncos with a little extra rest following their 24-3 slaughter of the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football last week.
After playing three games over the first 11 days of the season, the Jets were treated to a 10-day rest leading into this week's Broncos game. That extra rest is always helpful, especially given the multiple injuries the Jets are currently dealing with.
It's helped the Jets limit their injury report to just two players entering this week's game. The likes of D.J. Reed, Michael Carter II, and others who have been nursing nagging injuries are off the injury report for Week 4.
Unfortunately, the two players remaining on the injury report both seem likely to miss this game, and neither is an insignificant loss. Below is a look at the Jets' complete injury report for their Week 4 game against the Broncos.
NY Jets injury report Week 4
Position | Player | Injury | Game Status |
---|---|---|---|
OT | Morgan Moses | Knee | OUT |
LB | C.J. Mosley | Toe | Doubtful |
OT | Tyron Smith | Not Injury Related - Vet Rest Day | Healthy |
The Jets have ruled out right tackle Morgan Moses with a knee injury. Moses suffered the injury in the second half of last Thursday's win over the Patriots, forcing rookie first-round pick Olu Fashanu into the starting lineup.
Moses is expected to miss the next 2-4 weeks with an MCL sprain, although the Jets don't expect to place him on the injured reserve. That bodes well for his chances of returning within the next few weeks.
For the time being, Fashanu will get his first extended look in the starting lineup. The 11th overall pick in this year's draft played left tackle at Penn State but practiced at both positions in the summer. He performed well in relief of Moses in Week 3.
The other player on the Jets' injury report is linebacker C.J. Mosley. Mosley suffered a toe injury in the first quarter of the Jets' Week 2 win over the Tennessee Titans. He was sidelined for the remainder of that game and Week 3 and seems likely to miss another game on Sunday.
Mosley is listed as doubtful and did not practice at all this week. Expect to see Jamien Sherwood opposite Quincy Williams in the starting lineup for another game. Sherwood has impressed in Mosley's absence and is quickly making a case for a future starting role.
