Anonymous report about NY Jets' 'disarray' should not be taken seriously

Are the Jets actually a dumpster fire right now?

By all accounts, the NY Jets' organization is in a very good place entering the 2024 season. Vibes are high around the team with the return of Aaron Rodgers, and while there's less outside noise penetrating the walls of Florham Park, the aspirations are still the same as a year ago.

This Jets team — players and coaches alike — believe they can compete for a Super Bowl this season. There's genuine optimism that this Jets roster can legitimately contend for a championship in 2024.

But not everyone seems to believe the vibes are high. A quote from an anonymous NFL agent released by The Athletic on Thursday suggests the Jets are actually in "complete disarray."

The quote criticizes the Jets for how they've handled Rodgers since his arrival while doubling down to say that the "vibe inside the building is terrible." This would seem to refute every other verifiable report we've heard about the Jets this offseason.

So that begs the question, should this quote even be taken seriously? In short: absolutely not, and we can use a similar recent report as comparison.

"Jets. There is complete disarray over there. Look at how they’ve handled Aaron Rodgers. Has one player had more power than him? He skipped minicamp. They have been unable to convert him into a team player. The vibe inside the building is terrible."

No, the NY Jets are not in 'complete disarray'

The Athletic released a much more comprehensive bombshell report this past January detailing turmoil within the Jets' organization. The report cited over 30+ sources within and around the team.

While many Jets fans expectedly downplayed the report at the time — how dare anyone say bad things about their favorite team — the report deserved credence. It was a reputable report from reputable sources that took months to curate.

That report should have been taken seriously, and some did. It's a vastly different situation with this "quote."

For starters, this isn't an actual report. It's a quote from an anonymous individual who isn't associated with the Jets' organization. That shouldn't be treated the same as a reputable report from 30+ sources affiliated with the team in one way or another.

This agent isn't in the Jets' locker room, and based on the nature of their quote, they seem to have an axe to grind, either with Rodgers, the Jets, or both. Heck, this could be Haason Reddick's agent trying to affect public perception of the Jets for all we know.

The quote repeats false narratives about Rodgers' perception within the locker room, insisting that he isn't a team player. Anyone attempting to suggest that Rodgers isn't beloved and revered inside the Jets' building — by both players and coaches alike — probably shouldn't be taken seriously.

That's a dead giveaway that the individual in question does not know what's actually going on inside the Jets' building. You'd be hard-pressed to find a Jets player more respected and admired by their teammates in recent memory than Rodgers.

This quote is a complete nothing burger. The source isn't reputable. It's not a report in any way at all. While many will unfortunately take it seriously because media literacy is lacking nowadays, this isn't something anyone should give any credence to.
