Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson got a little heated and everyone is freaking out
By Justin Fried
Tensions tend to run high during NFL training camps when the heat of competition and the sun can bring out the fiery side of even the most composed athletes. The NY Jets saw that on full display this past Saturday.
During Saturday's training camp practice, Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson were spotted on the sideline taking part in an animated discussion with one another. It's unclear what was said, but there appeared to be some shouting and arm waving.
Before any Jets fans raise an eyebrow or two, the video clip showing the discussion did end with Rodgers and Wilson shaking hands before going their separate ways. This doesn't appear to be any sort of argument, but that didn't stop the haters from taking to social media to discuss this exchange.
Responses ranged from rival fans praying on the Jets' downfall to Rodgers critics hoping to be vindicated for their stance. But never did anyone stop to think that none of this actually matters and that this was a perfectly normal summer exchange between two teammates.
You be the judge for yourself.
NY Jets don't need to worry about Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson's heated exchange
We'll never know the specific contents of what Rodgers and Wilson were discussing. It's likely the two weren't on the same page about a particular play and were chatting about that on the sideline. This is a perfectly typical exchange that happens between various teammates pretty much every practice in the summer.
Tensions were also likely high given that this was the Jets' fourth consecutive day of practice before their day off on Sunday. The sun was beaming and we even saw our first glimpse of a minor skirmish on the field. Again, typical training camp stuff.
This didn't stop the haters from taking to social media to share their own thoughts, however. Some even offered an interpretation of what was being discussed.
Needless to say, this isn't anything to be concerned about. The Rodgers-Wilson dynamic has been electric so far this summer with the two offensive standouts already showcasing their chemistry with one another.
Wilson has been perhaps the Jets' best player on offense this summer, while Rodgers might just be a close second. There is absolutely zero reason to put any stock into a relatively tame sideline discussion in July.
But these are the Jets we're talking about. This is Aaron Rodgers. Both the Jets and Rodgers are going to be discussed differently from other teams and players. It's why Rodgers missing two days of minicamp in June caused weeks of unnecessary dialogue.
All Jets fans should care about is Rodgers and Wilson being on the same page come September. If this conversation helped them achieve that goal, that should be considered a win.
