Aaron Rodgers suggests Haason Reddick might've fired his agent amidst holdout

Did Haason Reddick fire his agent?

The NY Jets don't appear to be any closer to a Haason Reddick resolution as they approach their Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos this Sunday. Reddick remains away from the team and is on track to miss his fourth straight regular-season game to start the season.

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday and took a shot at Reddick and his agent while also seemingly revealing a very notable piece of information.

Rodgers was asked about The Athletic's report from August that suggested the Jets were in "complete disarray," largely due to their quarterback. Needless to say, Rodgers didn't take the rpeort seriously, but he also fired a stray shot at his (sort of) teammate in the process.

Rodgers told McAfee that he hadn't read the report but that he believes it was "written by Haason Reddick's agent." But this is when things get really interesting. Rodgers corrected himself, insisting that it was Reddick's "former agent."

Yes, Rodgers is implying that Reddick's agent no longer represents him.

Did Haason Reddick fire his agent?

There has been no confirmation at this time that Reddick has parted ways with his agent, Tory Dany of CAA Sports. It's possible Rodgers is simply joking, assuming, or flat-out incorrect with what he's saying. But that hasn't stopped the speculation.

Is this good news for the Jets? Bad news? Does it mean Reddick is more or less likely to show up? Realistically, we don't know, but one outcome seems more likely than the other.

If Reddick has indeed parted ways with his agent, it's more likely this wouldn't be a positive update for the Jets. It seems highly unlikely that any NFL agent would be advising Reddick to make the decisions he's made.

Reddick has lost over $8 million as he holds out for a contract that no team is reportedly willing to give him. His trade request is an empty threat as, by all accounts, no team is willing to trade for Reddick and reward him with the long-term extension he's seeking.

NFL agents aren't dumb and they like to make money. It's hard to imagine Dandy or any agent would advise Reddick to take this course of action. That leads many to believe that Reddick is making decisions for himself. He's gone rogue, for lack of a better term.

Whether that means Reddick fired his agent or his agent simply wanted out, the outcome would be the same. The Jets wouldn't be any closer to reach a resolution with a player who continues to defy logic.

Again, Rodgers isn't exactly an excellent source on this situation. His comments about Reddick's potentially former agent should be taken with a grain of salt. But they are still notable remarks that have sparked widespread speculation.

Much is still unknown about Reddick's stance and why he's continued to drag this situation out with no end game in sight, but what we do know is that the Jets continue to have all the leverage in negotiation talks.

Perhaps Reddick never actually plays a game for the Jets. Perhaps he's traded before the deadline in an effort to rid the organization of this continued headache. For now, however, all we can do is speculate and wait.
