Aaron Rodgers is getting clowned for his hypocritical comments about the NY Jets

NY Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has never been one to mince words. He will frequently speak exactly what is on his mind, even if that oftentimes gets him into trouble. Every once in a while, Rodgers comes across as a bit hypocritical as a result.

Such was the case when the four-time MVP spoke to reporters as part of the Jets' season-ending media day on Monday. Rodgers made it clear that, while he's encouraged about the future of the organization, he still believes there's work to be done.

That work extends beyond the roster-building process, too. Rodgers directly criticized the Jets' culture, insisting that the team needs to rid itself of the "bulls–t that has nothing to do with winning."

Of course, many immediately called out Rodgers for his hypocrisy, given that moments earlier, he was asked about his ongoing feud with comedian and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.

Rodgers has certainly made his fair share of headlines over the course of the season, even though the future Hall of Famer played just four snaps. Many seem to believe that Rodgers should take his own advice.

Aaron Rodgers wants the NY Jets to eliminate the outside noise in 2024

The Jets were the most talked-about team of the offseason due in large part to the acquisition of Rodgers. Combine that with their appearance on "Hard Knocks" this summer, and the hype for the Jets reached all-time levels this offseason.

That outside attention may have taken its toll on the team. Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner admitted that the team "lost track of some things" as a result of all the external pressure. That's partially what Rodgers is referring to here.

This is a young Jets team, and for some, it may have been difficult to handle the pressure associated with the offseason hype. Rodgers is saying that the Jets need to re-focus their attention on themselves and ignore the outside noise.

It's easy to see why many will refer to Rodgers as a hypocrite here, however. His constant off-field remarks draw more negative attention to the Jets' organization than anything else going on in the locker room.

The counterargument to that, however, is that Rodgers' seemingly weekly controversial comments don't relate to the Jets in any way. Rodgers is referring to in-house locker room matters — not personal external conversations.

Whatever the case, Rodgers and the Jets need to find a way to get back on track in 2024. The future of the franchise depends on it.
