The NY Jets are a little over three weeks away from the start of the 2023 season. Roster battles are beginning to take shape, and the Jets have a clearer picture as to what the state of the team will look like come Week 1.

But this is the NFL we're talking about. Rosters are constantly changing throughout the season, and there are still teams around the league making signings before the regular season. Just look at the Jets, who officially signed Dalvin Cook earlier this week.

There are still quite a few notable free agents that remain unsigned in mid-August. At least a handful of those players would absolutely improve the Jets' roster.

Let's take a look at five remaining free agents the Jets could still sign at this time. All five of these players would make the team better — and that's ultimately the end goal.

5. The NY Jets could sign C Ben Jones

The Jets were rumored to have been interested in Pro Bowl center Ben Jones prior to the 2023 NFL Draft. Jones was seen as an ideal late-free-agency signing, which makes it all the more surprising that he's still available in mid-August.

It's unclear if Jones plans to play again in the NFL, but the longtime Tennessee Titans center is reportedly keeping his options open. Perhaps one of those options could be the Jets.

The Jets re-signed Connor McGovern and drafted Joe Tippmann, but both players have the versatility to play guard. Tippmann has received snaps at all three interior offensive line spots this summer.

The Jets simply need more quality offensive linemen. If Jones is open to playing, he's undoubtedly the best option available. McGovern or Tippmann could play guard while Alijah Vera-Tucker slides to right tackle.
