5 remaining free agent targets for the NY Jets in the 2023 offseason
4. NY Jets target: Matt Ioannidis, DT
Another veteran defensive line option is Matt Ioannidis. Ioannidis would be a great interior pass rush option to add to the Jets' defensive line rotation.
Each season since 2017, Ioannidis has earned a Pro Football Focus pass-rush grade of 69.0 or better. Although he has dealt with injuries, the Jets need players on the interior defensive line, and Ioannidis, along with another veteran and a draft pick, could go a long way toward building that depth.
5. NY Jets target: Duron Harmon, S
It seemed like the Jets traded for Chuck Clark to replace Jordan Whitehead and would sign a veteran free safety to replace Lamarcus Joyner. To this point, Whitehead is still on the team along with Clark, and many free-agent safeties have come and gone for relatively cheap.
One option still available is former New England Patriots defensive back, Duron Harmon. Harmon has been a reliable safety for a long time now and is coming off a good year with the Las Vegas Raiders
Harmon has had at least two interceptions each year in all but two of his seasons and had a significantly better PFF coverage grade (77.6) than what the Jets got from Joyner last season (53.4).
Clark and Harmon as the starting safeties, along with a rookie and Tony Adams, who showed some promise last season, would be a better safety group than what we saw in 2022.
