The New York Jets released their Thursday injury report, and while most of it was to be expected, such as running back Breece Hall and left guard Dylan Parham registering a second straight Did Not Participate, there was an unwelcome surprise.

Edge Kingsley Enagbare, who has played a fairly prominent role for the Jets' defense through the first three games of the season, was downgraded from a limited practice on Wednesday to a DNP on Thursday. He's dealing with a knee injury.

With Joseph Ossai sidelined to start the 2026 season, Enagbare was the usual every-down starter off the edge across from David Bailey. He had been a major positive asset, particularly in run defense. His Pro Football Focus run-defense grade of 73.5 is the 17th-best in the NFL.

It seems like Enagbare is trending towards not playing in Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears, which will mean a full workload for Ossai, and likely more snaps for Braiden McGregor.

Minkah Fitzpatrick set to return to the New York Jets defense

While Enagbare is trending in the wrong direction, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was upgraded from limited practice on Wednesday to a full practice on Thursday. He'll likely make his first appearance since Week 1.

Fitzpatrick's addition will be a big one for the Jets' secondary. They've still been a good unit without him, allowing 171 passing yards per game to opposing offenses, and it should only get better with him back in the mix.

Many have pointed out that the Jets have still yet to record an interception under Aaron Glenn's tenure as head coach. Maybe Fitzpatrick, with his 21 career picks, will be able to bring some turnover magic with him once he's back in the lineup.

Other New York Jets injury report notes

The six players also listed as DNPs at Thursday's practice, Hall, Parham, Kiko Mauigoa, Adonai Mitchell, and Mason Taylor, are unlikely to suit up for Week 4.

With Mitchell and Taylor once again sidelined, expect another heavy dosage of Garrett Wilson and Kenyon Sadiq (who has been limited both days of practice but is expected to play) in the passing game. We'll likely see practice squad wide receiver Sterling Shepard elevated for a second straight game.

Another positive note: return specialist Kene Nwangwu has registered two days of full practice this week. He may be in line to make his 2026 season debut and hopefully provide a spark to an otherwise dormant return game.
