Say what you want about New York Jets fans, but they're a fiercely loyal bunch. If there's an opportunity for them to earn one of their players an award via social media, they're going to do it, and they did exactly that for rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq this past week.
Thanks to his seven-catch, 105-yard, one-touchdown outing in Week 3 against the Detroit Lions, Sadiq was voted Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week, an award voted on exclusively by fans.
The rookie tight end beat out the likes of Arizona Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love, Miami Dolphins linebacker Jacob Rodriguez, and New York Giants linebacker Arvell Reese for the award, and Jets fans beat out the fans of those respective teams, for that matter.
Since the 2021 season, Jets players have won 17 Rookie of the Week awards, the second most behind only the Washington Commanders. While fans deserve credit for stuffing those virtual ballot boxes, it wouldn't have been possible without Sadiq's monster performance against the Lions.

Kenyon Sadiq certainly earned his Rookie of the Week honors
Heading into Week 3, the Jets needed some extra assistance from their healthy pass catchers. With wide receivers Adonai Mitchell and Omar Cooper Jr. out with injuries, and tight end Mason Taylor nursing a finger ailment, New York needed outstanding performances from Sadiq and Garrett Wilson.
Boy, did they deliver.
Both Sadiq and Wilson recorded 100-yard outings, and it was the first time since 1995 that the Jets had a wide receiver and tight end combo both cross the century mark in a single game.
According to X user Sean Sheppard, it was also the first time since 1972 that the Jets had two pass catchers each record 100-yard games with a touchdown.
Sadiq absolutely earned his award, and hopefully, it's the first of many to come in the young tight end's career.
Kenyon Sadiq needs to stay more involved in New York Jets' passing game
Before Week 3, Sadiq was frustratingly not as involved in the Jets' offense as fans had initially hoped. In Weeks 1 and 2, he had only caught five passes for 38 yards. That's unacceptable for the 16th overall pick in the draft.
Regardless of injuries and who is or isn't in the lineup, Sadiq needs to remain an active part of the Jets' passing attack. He provides a nightmare matchup for opposing defenses and can truly be a game-wrecker.
Offensive coordinator Frank Reich needs to ensure his role remains the same heading into Week 4 against the Chicago Bears.
