The New York Jets need a wide receiver, more than one at that, and team brass is likely hoping to land one near the top of the 2026 NFL Draft.
No. 2 is going to be a defensive player, that much is clear. No. 16 is where the intrigue begins. That's the spot that could be a wide receiver, if the right prospect falls far enough.
We'll see if one of Ohio State's Carnell Tate, Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson, or USC's Makai Lemon makes it to the Jets' second first-round selection.
Over the last few weeks, the wide receiver picking up the most buzz in the class has been Tyson. He's arguably the biggest boom-or-bust prospect in the entire class, given his explosive playmaking ability and concerns about durability.
Setting aside the injury concerns, how would Tyson fit in as a member of the Jets?
Jordyn Tyson says Jets would have best WR room in NFL if they draft him
In an interview leading into the 2026 NFL Draft, SNY's Niki Lattarulo asked Tyson about his visit with the Jets and what he thinks of the team.
"Yeah, SJ (Shawn Jefferson), the receiver coach, real cool. We sat there and talked for our meeting, and then I came back in there after we was all done for the day. So very, very cool dude. And SJ, I was watching some Garrett Wilson tape. He's an amazing player. So definitely like the Jets. And Aaron Glenn, we had a nice conversation too. Very cool dude. "Jordyn Tyson
Clearly, Tyson already has a good rapport with some of the Jets' coaches. After meeting with Shawn Jefferson and Aaron Glenn, the Sun Devil sounds like he wouldn't mind landing in Florham Park.
Unfortunately, the Jets may have to make an aggressive move up the board if they have any hope of landing the talented wideout. He seems destined to go in the top-10.
But that doesn't change the fact that a Garrett Wilson, Adonai Mitchell, and Tyson receiving room wouldn't be one of the best in the league.
"Yeah, they have a great receiver room. You also got Adonai Mitchell, who's a great player. I really loved him out of college, out of Texas. So yeah, definitely just have probably the best receiver room in the league, to be honest with you."Jordyn Tyson
We'll see if the Jets end up getting the opportunity to select Tyson on Thursday night. If they do, New York certainly has a chance of fulfilling the prophecy of creating one of the most dangerous wide receiver rooms in the NFL.
