It seems likely that one of the big three wide receivers in the 2026 NFL Draft, in Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson, Ohio State's Carnell Tate, or USC's Makai Lemon, is available at No. 16 overall, the New York Jets will find it very hard to think of a reason not to pick one of them.
Tyson may have the most red flags out of any prospect, as he has been such an injury risk that he has gone from a top 10 lock to someone who may fall far in the first round. The latest rumors make it seem more likely than ever that Tyson will be there when the Jets pick.
According to Matt Miller of ESPN, many scouts believe that Tyson could slide to the back half of the first round, as the combination of his hamstring injury and lack of pre-draft workouts has led to a situation where many teams are left in the dark with regard to his availability.
Tyson is the type of player who can change an offense immediately, and with the Jets lacking star power on that side of the ball, selecting the former Sun Devils star seems like the type of calculated risk this front office needs to take.
Jets draft target Jordyn Tyson may fall in 2026 NFL Draft
When healthy, Tyson may be the best wide receiver in this class. With supreme route-running ability, great hands, and a wide catch radius, Tyson has shown that he can get open as both an oversized slot receiver and a traditional boundary threat in his college career.
Not only has Tyson been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury, but he has suffered some sort of nagging injury every year in which he has been in college football. He isn't suddenly going to develop titanium hamstrings in the pros, which means the injuries could follow him.
The Jets might be a spot that is better equipped to handle Tyson, however. With three other picks in the top 50, Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn might be more willing to bring in someone with injury concerns than other teams. The lack of receiving talent next to Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell makes him more attractive as well.
It appears as though the biggest thing preventing Tyson from being a no-doubt star in the NFL is his health. If the Jets can figure out a way to mitigate his injuries, this may be a slam-dunk pick.
