Believe it or not, the Robert Saleh revenge game isn’t the only noteworthy matchup on the New York Jets’ 2026 schedule.

The Week 1 date with Saleh and the Titans is understandably what Jets fans keep focusing on.

However, the Jets’ September 13 trip to Tennessee precedes a fearsome gauntlet of NFC North teams.

The Jets host Jordan Love’s Packers in Week 2 before road games against the Lions and Bears.

Green Bay and Chicago both reached the playoffs last year. Although Detroit missed the postseason for the first time since 2021, the Lions remain a top NFC contender.

Counting their loss to the Broncos in London, Aaron Glenn and the Jets went 1-8 away from MetLife Stadium last year.

Defeating Robert Saleh’s Titans would be a massive statement for the Jets

You’ll forgive anyone outside of the Jets fandom for not being overly excited about a Jets-Titans game.

Both are rebuilding organizations, though the Titans at least have a young starting quarterback in Cam Ward.

The two teams went a combined 6-28 last year, and neither is expected to compete for a playoff berth.

Yet, a win over the Saleh-led Titans would nonetheless be a massive accomplishment for Glenn’s Jets.

Forget the revenge game narrative for a moment.

A Week 1 win could at least create the impression that the Jets are back on the right track.

As things stand, good luck finding even the most loyal Jets fans who expect at least a 2-2 record entering Week 5.

That doesn’t mean that a 1-3 start would be a complete defeat, though.

The Jets have completely overhauled their roster dating back to last November’s Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams trades.

Glenn cannot afford to be 0-4 entering the Week 5 clash with Cleveland.

Woody Johnson choosing to keep Glenn despite last year’s repeated failures spoke volumes.

Speaking candidly, Glenn shouldn’t have much wiggle room during the season’s first month.

Beating Saleh would, even if temporarily, inject optimism into a fan base desperately needing reasons to smile on Sundays.

Otherwise, Glenn might want to start studying which contenders could use a defensive coordinator.
