The New York Jets are one of six teams that hold multiple first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft — Nos. 2 and 16. The belief is that the Jets will use the second overall pick on one of the top pass rushers in the draft, in either Ohio State's Arvell Reese or Texas Tech's David Bailey. As for the No. 16 pick, it's entirely possible the Jets use it on some much-needed wide receiver help, which would provide a boost for quarterback Geno Smith.
One player who makes sense for the Jets is Arizona State wideout, Jordyn Tyson. The thing is, he's received a huge boost in his draft stock as of late, where he could be off the board within the Top 10 picks. If the Jets do want Tyson, there is one team they need to keep an eye on, and it's one that's pretty close to them.
SNY's Connor Hughes provided some intel in the hours leading up to the NFL Draft. Hughes said that if Tyson were to fall to No. 10 overall, "the Giants are going to draft him." The Giants hold the No. 10 pick following a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals involving Dexter Lawrence.
Insider says Jets need to trade in front of Giants to draft Jordyn Tyson
Hughes said that if the Jets want Tyson, they will need to trade up ahead of the Giants to draft him.
"They have the ammunition to do it if they want to come up. I would keep an eye on that Kansas City Chiefs pick at No. 9, because I think every single one of us knows that Jordyn Tyson has many, many fans across town with the New York Giants. If Tyson is sitting there at 10, the Giants are going to draft him. So if the Jets want him, they've got to jump in front of them. And with picks 16, 44, and 179, that's probably going to get the Chiefs to come down a little bit, and they come up."Connor Hughes
It has been the worst-kept secret that the Giants are fans of Tyson, and they've done a lot of homework on him. With the Giants trying to build around quarterback Jaxson Dart, they do need to improve their receiving corps behind Malik Nabers. With an extra first-round pick at their disposal, Tyson is a legitimate target for them.
Tyson does carry concern, as he has a lengthy injury history during his time in college. He suffered a knee injury in 2022, a collarbone injury in 2024, and a hamstring injury this past season. Any team that drafts him will have to hope he remains healthy. But Tyson's upside is too good to pass up on.
In 2024, during Arizona State's incredible run to the College Football Playoff, Tyson recorded 75 catches for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns in 12 games. Last season, Tyson caught 61 passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns in nine games.
Tyson is going to be a hot commodity in the first round. It's become apparent now (unless it's an elaborate smokescreen) that Tyson may not get past the Giants at the No. 10 pick. If the Jets are enamored with and want Tyson on their team, they will have to jump ahead of their in-state rivals.
