The New York Jets are out for revenge as they enter their Week 3 game against the Detroit Lions. They’re still trying to recover from a brutal overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers after blowing a double-digit fourth-quarter lead a week ago.

There’s also the Aaron Glenn factor, of course. This will be Glenn’s first game back in Detroit since leaving the Lions, and he’ll have a chance to make a statement against his former team. With Detroit’s defense already battling injuries and struggling early in the season, the Jets will have an opening to turn that extra motivation into points on the board.

Meanwhile, the Lions will be hoping to overcome their early-season injuries to climb back to 2-1 after a 41-31 drubbing at the hands of the Buffalo Bills last week. The 10 days of rest certainly helped a Lions team that is dealing with a number of key injuries.

The Jets have already ruled out four players for Week 3. Defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick (groin), tight end Mason Taylor (thumb), running back/kick returner Kene Nwangwu (back), and linebacker Kiko Mauigoa (quad) will all miss Sunday's game.

Edge rusher Joseph Ossai (foot) and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell (finger) are listed as questionable for Week 3. Ossai is hoping to make his Jets debut, while Mitchell will be a game-time decision after getting his finger caught in a jersey at practice on Thursday.

The Jets signed former undrafted wide receivers Malik McClain and Jamaal Pritchett to their 53-man roster this week and elevated Sterling Shepard from the practice squad to provide additional depth in case Mitchell is unable to play.

As for the Lions, backup offensive guard Ben Bartch (foot) and safety Thomas Harper (ankle) have been ruled out, while starting left guard Christian Mahogany (hip) and rookie right tackle Blake Miller (knee) will return after missing last week's game.

Who are the official inactives for both the Jets and the Lions today? We've got you covered.

Full inactives list for New York Jets in Week 3

  • DB Minkah Fitzpatrick
  • TE Mason Taylor
  • RB Kene Nwangwu
  • LB Kiko Mauigoa
  • WR Adonai Mitchell
  • K Blake Grupe
  • CB Nahshon Wright

The Jets will once again be without Minkah Fitzpatrick, who will miss his second (essentially third) game in a row with a groin injury. Andre Cisco will start at safety in Fitzpatrick's place, while Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and the debuting D'Angelo Ponds will likely fill in at nickel cornerback.

Tight end Mason Taylor is inactive after suffering a thumb injury late in the team's Week 2 loss to the Packers. The Jets hope to have Taylor back as soon as next week, but in the meantime, expect more snaps for rookie Kenyon Sadiq, Jeremy Ruckert, Jelani Woods, and Andrew Beck.

Backup running back and kick returner Kene Nwangwu will miss another game with a back injury. Nwangwu was previously listed as doubtful but was downgraded to OUT on Saturday.

The Jets signed former UDFA wideout Jamaal Pritchett to the 53-man roster this weekend, which could be a bad sign for Nwangwu's availability moving forward. Pritchett will likely fill in as the second kick returner alongside Isaiah Williams and provide depth behind Williams after the 2025 Team MVP's issues a week ago.

Backup linebacker Kiko Mauigoa is inactive after suffering a quad injury last week. Veteran Troy Reeder will serve as the team's top special teams linebacker, while Trevin Wallace — claimed off waivers by the Jets following roster cuts — will make his team debut, also filling in for the injured Marcelino McCrary-Ball (ankle), who was placed on IR last week.

Jason Sanders will serve as the Jets' kicker, as Blake Grupe is inactive for a third week in a row. The Jets have now used all three of their allotted practice squad elevations on Sanders, so they will have to make a decision on his future this week.

Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell is officially inactive after suffering a finger injury in practice last week. The Jets will be down to Garrett Wilson, Isaiah Williams, Malik McClain, Jamaal Pritchett, and Sterling Shepard at wide receiver this week.

Cornerback Nahshon Wright is a healthy scratch this week after not appearing in either of the team's first two games. Jordan Clark gets the nod over Wright, primarily due to special teams.

Full inactives list for Detroit Lions in Week 3

  • OL Ben Bartch
  • SAF Thomas Harper
  • TE Tyler Conklin
  • SAF Bishop Fitzgerald
  • EDGE Ahmed Hassanein
  • LB Devin White
  • DL Mekhi Wingo

The Lions are dealing with a number of injuries entering Week 3. Detroit will be down its top four safeties, including Kerby Joseph (knee) and Brian Branch (Achilles), who remain on IR and have not played yet this season.

Detroit also lost veteran Avonte Maddox to a season-ending foot injury in Week 2 and will now be without Thomas Harper (ankle) this week. Expect former Jets safety Chuck Clark and Far Rockaway native Christian Izien to start in their place.

The Lions will return two starting offensive linemen who missed last week's game in left guard Christian Mahogany and right tackle Blake Miller, but will be without key reserve Ben Bartch, who is inactive due to a foot injury.

Former Jets tight end Tyler Conklin is a healthy scratch as the fourth tight end on Detroit's depth chart.
