The NY Jets hoped that the addition of Davante Adams would not only save their floundering season but give the team a legitimate chance to make a run at the Super Bowl. Instead, the Jets have won just one game since Adams' arrival and enter their Week 11 game against the Indianapolis Colts with a dismal 3-7 record.
There have been flashes of the Aaron Rodgers-Davante Adams connection that have reminded many of their glory days in Green Bay. Adams' seven-catch, 91-yard performance in Week 9 helped the Jets stun the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football.
Unfortunately, outside of that Texans game, Adams has failed to top 54 yards in a game with the Jets despite being top-five in the NFL in targets since his arrival in Florham Park. The trade has been a failure to this point.
Adams might have an opportunity to change the narrative in today's game against the Colts, but he enters this week's matchup with a questionable injury designation.
Is Davante Adams playing today?
Yes, Adams is expected to play in today's game against the Colts. The six-time Pro Bowler is listed as questionable due to an illness and wrist injury but is expected to be active in Week 11.
Adams popped up on the injury report this week and did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. Although he was listed as a "DNP" with both an illness and a wrist injury, it was indeed the illness that kept him sidelined.
Adams was reportedly dealing with a stomach bug this past week, but he returned to practice as a full participant on Friday and is not expected to have any limitations in today's game.
In four games with the Jets this season, Adams has hauled in 20 catches for 206 yards and a touchdown. Only four players have been targeted more than Adams since he was traded to the Jets, but he ranks just 20th in catches and 34th in yards in that same timeframe.
The Jets will once again lean on Adams and Garrett Wilson to lead their receiving corps, especially with Allen Lazard still out with a chest injury. With the Jets' season hopes hanging in the balance, Adams should have one more opportunity to make an impact in today's game.
