NY Jets wide receiver Davante Adams is hoping to be on the receiving end of Aaron Rodgers' 500th touchdown pass when his team takes the field against the Buffalo Bills later today. But for that to happen, he'll have to be on the field with them.
Adams popped up on the injury report this week with a hip injury and was unable to practice on either Wednesday or Thursday. He returned to practice in a limited capacity but is listed as questionable entering Week 17.
This is the second time Adams has been nursing an injury entering a game with the Jets. He was previously questionable with a wrist injury for the team's Week 11 game against the Indianapolis Colts, a game in which he did play.
With Rodgers just one shy of 500 career touchdown passes, Adams hopes to be the one to help him reach that milestone. But will he even have the opportunity to do so?
Is Davante Adams playing today?
Despite being listed as questionable with a hip injury, the expectation is that Adams will be active and in uniform for the Jets' Week 17 game against the Bills.
Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich told reporters on Friday that Adams "looked good" in practice, a strong indication that he will be available today. ESPN's Adam Schefter confirmed that notion when he reported that Adams is expected to play on Sunday morning.
The six-time Pro Bowler has hauled in 74 catches for 928 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games split between the Jets and Raiders in 2024. Adams ranks ninth among all players in catches and is tied for fourth in receiving touchdowns since Week 9.
Schefter hinted that part of Adams' motivation for playing in Week 17 is his desire to catch Rodgers' 500th touchdown pass. Notably, Adams was also on the receiving end of Rodgers' 200th and 400th career touchdowns as well.
Fortunately for the longtime teammates, they will be given every opportunity to make that dream a reality in today's game. The Jets — and fantasy managers — should have a healthy Adams in Week 17.
