Garrett Wilson couldn't be happier for recently extended Jets teammate

Good vibes from Garrett.

The New York Jets are lucky to have Garrett Wilson. A player of his caliber, his mindset, and his pedigree don't come around New York all that often, but when they do, they're cherished by this fanbase.

Despite not having the most team success over his first four years in New York, Wilson has easily been the Jets' best player. In 58 games, he's hauled in 315 receptions, for 3,644 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Even last season, only appearing in seven games for the Jets, the former first-round pick still managed to lead New York in receiving yards, totaling 395 in the first third of the season. A rather damning indictment of Gang Green's supporting cast.

Regardless, Wilson has always put on a brave face for the Jets and been a vocal leader in the locker room. He advocates for his teammates, and it was no different when draft classmate Breece Hall received his contract extension.

Garrett Wilson praises Breece Hall, says he's deserving of new contract

Speaking with reporters, Wilson was asked about Hall's extension and how pleased he was to see one of his fellow playmakers earn some long-term security.

"I was just super excited to see Breece get locked up, because that's one of the guys I came in with. It sucks to see some of the guys that we came in with not here."

Wilson was obviously referring to Sauce Gardner and Jermaine Johnson, he and Hall's two other 2022 NFL Draft classmates who are now no longer with the team.

But it's the lack of team success that is precisely why the Jets had to move on from their other two youngsters, and it's only a testament to Wilson and Hall's talent that they're still with the team even after the other massive changes the franchise has undergone.

Now, it's time to get a winning product back on the field.

"So the reality of it is, we got to figure this thing out, and we're proud to do it. And you got a guy like Breece to make it a whole lot easier, man. He's special at what he does, one of the best in the league, and I'm excited that they locked him down because we need him, man. That boy can play."

Both of the Jets' 2022 draft picks will be key playmakers in the Jets' offense this upcoming season, and their contracts reflect it.

Hopefully, new offensive coordinator Frank Reich can get the most out of his star wide receiver and running back, and quarterback Geno Smith will be able to be effective at delivering the football.
