New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is dealing with yet another quarterback change in his young career, as the pitiful play of Justin Fields led to New York swapping him out as soon as time would allow and bringing in a veteran quarterback with some postseason experience in Geno Smith. Statistically, Wilson should be in for a huge improvement.

At this point in the offseason, Wilson is doing everything he can to try to establish chemistry with Smith, even going so far as to ask his former teammates for advice on what it's like to catch passes from the grizzled veteran.

In an appearance on the official Jets podcast, Wilson said that he got in touch with former Ohio State teammate Jaxon Smith-Njigba to ask what it was like playing with Geno with the Seattle Seahawks. The early returns have reportedly been very positive.

JSN told Wilson he "loved Geno" and helped get Wilson pumped up about playing with the veteran quarterback. What has impressed No. 5 more than anything else has been Smith's smarts, as he has quickly digested the new-look offense and gotten the rest of the team in sync.

Smith is coming off one of the worst years of his career with the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Jets brought him in with the thought that their superior offensive structure would be effective enough to give the former second-round pick enough of a boost to lift the entire offense.

Smith will come to a team with a superior offensive line and a collection of skill position players that exceeds what he had in Las Vegas. Wilson is the meal ticket, but with Kenyon Sadiq and Omar Cooper Jr. joining the mix in the NFL Draft and Adonai Mitchel establishing a good connection with Smith, the offense is starting to bloom.

Before the year when everything went wrong in Las Vegas, Smith was a rock-solid starter in Seattle who was able to make it to the playoffs. Smith was able to take advantage of a wide receiver room that featured Smith-Njigba, DK Metcalf, and Tyler Lockett.

The Jets' fanbase is begging for anyone who shows even a passing interest in challenging defenses down the field to take the reins, and Wilson's testimoney makes it sound like Smith will be willing and able to let it rip next season.
