Now that Super Bowl LX is officially in the books, the New York Jets can finally get to the part of the year where they always seem to come out on top: the offseason.

Free agency is almost a month away, and the 2026 NFL Draft is soon after that. The Jets are armed with four picks in the top 45 selections and two in the top 16, uniquely positioning New York with the opportunity to add impact players.

NBC Sports analyst and Jets super fan Connor Rogers released his first mock draft of the offseason Monday morning, and he has New York picking up two elite prospects in the first round to help both the offense and defense improve drastically in 2026

Connor Rogers' mock draft lands the Jets David Bailey and Denzel Boston

With the No. 2 overall pick, Rogers has the Jets selecting Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey, reinforcing the idea that New York may be switching up their defensive scheme next season.

"With Steve Wilks gone, Aaron Glenn will be more hands on with the defense in 2026. He’ll be aided by new defensive coordinator Brian Duker but more importantly (regarding this pick), the return of defensive line coach Karl Dunbar to the organization. If that’s a hint at more 3-4 looks, Bailey is very much in play. His first step, agility and pursuit speed terrorize quarterbacks."

The Jets' defense was primarily a 4-3 front last season, but that could be thanks to their leftover personnel from the Robert Saleh era. Another year further removed, and a new defensive staff could mean a change.

Bailey was one of the best pass rushers in college football last season, wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks and helping lead Texas Tech to the College Football Playoff.

The Jets were 31st in total sacks in 2025, and it's obvious that they need more juice off the edge than what Jermaine Johnson II and Will McDonald IV are providing. Adding Bailey to the mix makes them a much fiercer unit.

As for New York's second first-round pick, Rogers projects the Jets to select Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston 16th overall, giving superstar Garrett Wilson a real premier running mate.

"Boston uses his big frame to shield defenders as he plucks the ball out of the air, allowing him to haul in 20 touchdowns over the last two seasons. His mass, length, ball skills and run blocking would bring a much-needed element to the Jets receiving room. Trotting out him, Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell in 11 personnel is a nice start to rebuilding a broken passing attack."

While the Jets didn't get anything resembling solid quarterback play last year, it didn't help that they entered the 2025 season with Allen Lazard and Josh Reynolds as their No. 2 and No. 3 options.

The midseason additions of Adonai Mitchell and John Metchie were solid, but it doesn't change the fact that Wilson still led the Jets in receiving yards despite catching his last pass of the year in October.

Adding Boston to the mix certainly raises the ceiling on the Jets' wide receiver room, and having him, Wilson, and Mitchell creates a decent group that a good quarterback can work with.
