Breece Hall trade proposal would be too good for the Jets to pass up

The New York Jets are expected to be active in the trade market as we draw closer to the deadline in early November. At 0-5, this is not a Jets team that will be looking to add players to their roster.

Head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey will continue to reshape this roster to their image over the next few months, and this year's trade deadline will provide an opportunity to recoup draft capital for a select few assets who aren't intended to be a part of the future.

One such player whose name has repeatedly come up in trade rumors is running back Breece Hall. Hall has found himself at the center of trade talks dating back to the 2025 NFL Draft, and with just a few months remaining on his contract, his future in New York is more uncertain than ever.

But for the Jets to part ways with Hall, they'll likely want to receive a significant haul in return. One recent proposal from the folks over at FanDuel would see the Jets trade Hall to the Kansas City Chiefs in return for a sizable package.

This Breece Hall trade package would be hard for the Jets to turn down

FanDuel's proposal would see the Jets net a 2026 third-round pick as well as a 2027 fifth-round pick in exchange for Hall. That's significantly higher than his perceived market value at the moment and would be almost impossible for the Jets to turn down.

Hall's future in New York remains a contentious discussion. On one hand, Hall is one of the most important parts of the Jets' offense and is in the midst of a bounce-back 2025 season in which he has genuinely been a borderline top-10 running back in football.

The Jets' excellent run-blocking has certainly helped his production and efficiency, but Hall has been very impressive independent of his situation. The ball security issues that plagued him last year have been less frequent, and he's been able to carve out consistent chunk plays on the ground.

That said, Hall is set to be a free agent in a few months and will likely be looking for a new contract in the range of James Cook money — four years, $48 million. Would the Jets be willing to pay Hall that kind of money? Should they? It's a complicated conversation.

Hall has shown flashes of greatness and, at his best, has been one of the best running backs in football. But he's also failed to put together year-over-year consistency, to the point where a rebuilding team like the Jets might not be willing to pay top dollar for his services.

The Braelon Allen injury unfortunately complicates the matter further. If the Jets were to trade Hall midseason, that would leave the team's running back room barren, with Isaiah Davis, Khalil Herbert, and Kene Nwangwu as the only remaining players on the depth chart.

Davis has impressed in limited playing time, but he has just 36 career carries under his belt. Herbert is an experienced back, but three different organizations determined he wasn't good enough to consistently crack their rotation within the last year.

It would be a tough sell to move on from Hall and rely on a running back room of Davis, Herbert, and Nwangwu for the remainder of the 2025 season, but if a team comes calling with even a third-round pick, it would be almost impossible to say no.

Ultimately, it depends on how the Jets feel about Hall. If they actually do intend to extend him in the offseason, then maybe they'd be willing to reject even a trade offer like this that exceeds his perceived value.

But if the Jets are on the fence or leaning toward letting Hall walk, it would be a tough sell to pass on an offer like this. Hall's future with the Jets figures to be one of the top storylines to follow with this team over the next few weeks.

Don't be surprised if Hall isn't on the Jets' roster come this time next month. The trade talk is real.
