The New York Jets have another AFC East matchup on the docket in Week 7, as they host the Miami Dolphins. They seek to get back on the right track after falling 26-19 to the New England Patriots in their last matchup.
In that game, they went against former guard Alijah Vera-Tucker. It was the first time they had seen each other since he signed a three-year, $42 million deal with New England. Yet, it didn't last long, as he left with a hamstring injury in the second quarter. He didn't return and will be on the shelf for a while.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that the Patriots are placing Vera-Tucker on injured reserve. He will now miss at least four weeks, which is something Jets fans were awfully familiar with when he was in New York.

New York Jets fans won't be surprised with Alijah Vera-Tucker update
Injury concerns have been the biggest hurdle for Vera-Tucker. During his Jets tenure, he played in just 43 of 85 possible games. That is 50 percent of the games, and that was nowhere near good enough. He was sidelined for the season with two torn triceps, in addition to a torn Achilles tendon.
Those were all major injuries that limited him to seven games or fewer in a year. And while the talent has always been there, he can't seem to stay on the field. Before getting hurt against the Jets in Week 6, Vera-Tucker played every snap at left guard.
He looked like he was fitting in nicely with what the Pats wanted to do. He allowed 11 pressures, three QB sacks, and one sack. The USC product was holding his own, but the same issue has already popped up. And most Jets fans won't be shocked.
New York Jets know all to well how injuries cap Vera-Tucker's ceiling
When Vera-Tucker hit free agency last spring, there were some discussions on whether the Jets should bring him back and, if they did, how much they should pay.
They ended up passing on him, likely due to a combo of price and inability to trust him to stay healthy. Instead, they signed Dylan Parham to a two-year, $16 million deal. Before going down, Parham was playing some good football and should be back in the lineup in the near future.
Nonetheless, seeing Vera-Tucker land on IR is unfortunate for him, but it has been the story of his NFL career. Talented player, but can't seem to stay healthy. It doesn't help that, when departing New York, he went to a hated rival.
That already ruffled some feathers among the fanbase. Then he also took a shot at the Jets' culture by saying players get "numb" to all the losing that takes place.
Not only did he go to the Pats, but he had to take a jab at the Jets in the process. That was surprising to some, but seeing the news that AVT is on IR won't be jarring for fans.
