The New York Jets' miserable 2025 season came to a fitting end on Sunday as the team fell to the Buffalo Bills 35-8 on the road. With the loss, Aaron Glenn finishes his first season with the Jets 3-14, securing the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Sunday's performance was like Groundhog Day for the Jets. Brady Cook struggled to complete passes, while the patchwork defense allowed Mitch Trubisky to throw for 259 yards and four touchdowns.

The Jets will now shift their focus to what is a massive offseason, as New York will look to find their franchise quarterback, along with many other pieces that are needed on this roster. Following the loss, Aaron Glenn made his thoughts clear on how his first season with the Jets went.

Glenn made his stance on the season and his coaching very blunt and clear.

Aaron Glenn's first season with the Jets was a disaster

Aaron Glenn's self-assessment sums up his first season in Florham Park. From the moment he took over last January to now, it has been nothing short of a raging dumpster fire that has only gotten hotter.

Glenn spent all offseason talking about being in a win-now mode and building a team that fans can be proud of. He preached that with better coaching, the team would improve in crucial areas where they had struggled during their five-win 2024 campaign.

Simply put, those words and expectations have quickly blown up in Glenn's face as he finishes his first season with just three wins. One of the most concerning aspects of this season is how it all unfolded.

Going into the year, the expectations were low for this Jets team, but the baseline hope for the fanbase was that the team and coaching staff would show legitimate progress as the season progressed. In typical Jets fashion, that didn't happen.

After starting 0-7, New York made two major trades at the trade deadline, dealing Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams. Despite finding a little momentum from Weeks 8-13, going 3-2 across those five games, that was quickly shown to be fraudulent.

The Jets followed that stretch up with historical ineptitude in December and January. Over the last five weeks, New York became the first team in NFL history to lose five straight games by at least 23 points. They were outscored 188-54 in those games.

Glenn's Jets also became the first team in NFL history to go an entire season without hauling in an interception since the league started tracking interceptions in 1933. The Jets' four takeaways also set a new low in NFL history, surpassing the 2018 49ers, who finished with seven.

The numbers don't tell the entire story either, as the eye test, especially over the last five games, has been even more alarming. Tackling continues to be an issue, and despite Glenn backtracking his comments on effort, the effort of the team has clearly been lacking.

In total, the Jets' season ends with one defensive coordinator fired, multiple historic levels of ineptitude, and just three wins.

Aaron Glenn has shown zero evidence that he can be a successful head coach in the NFL. All signs, though, point towards Woody Johnson bringing the first-time head coach back for another year.

Glenn's first season has been so bad that if he turns it around, he would be a historic outlier. There is a very good chance this time next season, New York will be searching for a new leader again, because Glenn has shown nothing.
